Location is good - as long as you don't have a car. Room size is good - but dark and bed is very comfy. Sounds good? .... customer service was shocking. Make sure you stipulate a non-smoking room or else that's what they default you to. Don't expect internet service, it was down for four days, nobody knew or cared when it was going to be fixed. Desk people didn't know the rules on the parking buildings, told one building would charge $20 a day then told the next morning it was going to cost $86 because it wasn't the one across the road. They were unhelpful and rude - fine is you're paying $100 a night but not $200. I wouldn't even consider this place again.

My partner and I booked the deluxe suite room at Causeway 353 through an online website. Our main requirement for a nice city weekend getaway was that the room had a nice large jacuzzi and good customer service.
Unfortunately when we checked in, the spa we were promised did not look anything like the picture shown online so I made a complaint. The manager was in the back room and could overhear my conversation with the staff member at the front desk however did not have the decency to come out and apologise or offer a small discount or token as a goodwill gesture. I had specifically upgraded from a normal room to a deluxe suite on the assumption that this room came with a large spa. I was obviously quite disappointed at having to fork out extra money for what was basically a bathtub with a few crappy jets in it.
The next two nights were not much better - at about 12:45am, we received 2 phone calls from a pizza delivery guy who insisted that he received our number from the front desk as it appeared we had made a pizza delivery order (which was obviously not the case).
I also noticed that the cleaning staff at this hotel do not seem to respect the 'Do Not Disturb' sign when placed outside the room door which was rather annoying.

Other than those few customer service issues, the hotel itself was okay. Not luxurious but relatively clean and comfortable. Good location if you are after a shopping escape in Melbourne but I would recommend other hotels that can give you similar deals in terms of value for money but with much better customer service.

Visiting on a 4 night business / leisure trip and wanted somewhere in the centre of Melbourne. Can't beat the location, in a quiet lane just off Collins and Elizabeth St. close to the lanes, Block Arcade, Bourke St Mall, Fed Square etc. An easy walk to Hardware Lane where there's a good selection of restaurants (Max is v.good).

Check in and out were quick and efficient, staff friendly and helpful. Our room was on the 6th floor at the far end from the lifts; no outlook but a good size, comfortable and very quiet. The bathroom is well appointed and has a good hot shower and a tub. As usual there's "wi-fi available" in the hotel but at a cost. For free access go to the library in Flinders Lane. On the plus side, the room rate includes a help yourself continental breakfast.

Had a 4 day stay in Melbourne with my daughter and we wanted a hotel in the CBD so we could shop and sightsee. The Causeway 353 was in the perfect location, and the reviews were positive so we decided it was the one. For a very reasonable cost we were extremely happy with the hotel - the rate included a continental breakfast and the room was comfortable. The facilities are new and everything was in working order. We asked for a high level room so we could avoid the city noise and they accommodated us. We arrived late on our flight and the desk is manned 24 hours which was great. There was minimal noise considering it was right in the middle of the CBD and everything worked. We would highly recommend this hotel!

To start off with we arrived at 9am and they let us check in straight away. We were on level 6 in a King Deluxe, no view which didn't phase us. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Perfect location to public transport. Right in the heart of the city. The king size bed was defiantly big enough, spare pillows, bath robes, slippers, daily towels. We weren't woken by any noise inside or out. Gym and steam room were available and internet access was good and cheap. The only complaint is the pressure on the shower head. 24 hour reception which was good. Late check out was amazing. As out flight didn't leave until 7pm, they stored our luggage down stairs for us. Sotto, basement restaurant/bar was very inviting with candles and a romantic feel about it. WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN 100%

We booked the Causeway for two nights to spend time in the city with my brother and wanted basic accomodation for a reasonable price and we were extremely pleased. The room was spacious and clean with a good sized bed. Well equipped with the standard bits you expect. This is certainly not a luxurious hotel but if you want to pay a reasonable price for a basic room that you can be confident is clean and comfortable then I would recommend.
The continental breakfast was satisfactory and I did pay the extra for eggs on the second morning as it was a reasonable price.
The location is fantastic and a short walk from station and centre.
I always dislike paying for internet access and after I purchased the access I could not get it to work without dropping connection. Federation square has free wi-fi access and the bar there also has complimentary power sockets for use.
Overall a good base for a great price.
