So pleased we found this hotel, super comfy beds and you can't hear any noise at all. I was thinking I must have been the only person in the hotel!

The rooms are very stylish, bathrobes are included. Bathroom is a good size with a bath.

The best feature of this hotel is the restaurant downstairs in the basement, light breakfast is included in your room tariff which is quite good. At night this restaurant is amazing and I felt it must be one of Melbourne's best kept secrets!
Reception staff gave us a voucher for free drinks and we loved the atmosphere in the restaurant so much that we decided to stay and dine there. Two of my adult children were celebrating their birthdays, so pleased we chose this restaurant to celebrate the occasion.
The food was beyond superb and the waiter really made our night very special, he was very good and probably the main reason we decided to stay there for dinner.

Check in was easy and staff all good. We will be staying at Causeway 353 again when in Melbourne.

I stayed at the Causeway 353 the weekend before Australia Day with my partner for his 21st birthday (this was my present to him) so I was a bit low on cash for accommodation.

I was very impressed with the hotel on arrival. Unfortunately we were very early so they took our bags into storage and took care of them for the morning. Even though the tennis was on (we had no idea) the staff went to extra lengths to keep checking in and out going as quickly as possible. Once we came back to check in we discovered that we were upgraded to a spa bath room which was a pleasant surprise, not that we got a chance to use the spa bath! Our room was clean and modern and I HAVE to mention how amazing the king size bed was!
The only thing that wasn't too great was the view of the side alley and office building next door, but we were only staying for the weekend so it was something we could live with.

The complimentary continental breakfast wasn't as great as it could have been, I was waiting for a lot of foods to be replentished as every time something was brought out the crowds grabbed enough for their table since it all went so fast. The variety was basic but pretty tasty. Since it was so crowded, we weren't upset to miss breakfast to get to the airport early on our 2nd day.

The location was perfect, especially for us as we couldn't hire a car. Walking distance to Bourke Street Mall, trams, busses, Flinders Street Station and about a 10 minute walk to Spencer Street Station. Plenty of cafes, restaurants and takeaways are within walking distance too.

This hotel is great value for money and it was perfect for our weekend away. I'd reccomend it for anyone who is having a weekend away with friends as it is a great base. A perfect basic hotel for anyone on the go.

The hotel is brilliantly located, clean and tidy and staff were efficient. Continental breakfast was what you should expect cereal, toast, juice and pastries.

5 star it is not, but either are there room rates - 353 is good value

Unfortunately the fire alarm was set off by steam from a shower in another room and having to evacuate the room at 6:30am in the morning was not ideal but hey what could anyone do.

I would stay there again

Overall this was good value for the money, especially since we were there the week of the Australian Open when all hotel prices had shot up. The room was stylish and pretty comfortable. The bathroom was nice. A few things didn't work right, like the blinds that were stuck in the down position (but the view outside looked right into a brick wall, so we weren't missing much) and a toilet paper holder falling off the wall that wasn't fixed by the staff. Rooms had safes, luggage racks, bathrobes... everything we needed.

Breakfast was very good--the croissants were excellent, the danish was good, lots of different juices, yogurt and honey on offer, my favorite. We also ate dinner one night at the restaurant and enjoyed it... not very atmospheric, being in the basement, but the decor is well done, the food was good, and the service was friendly.

The location was also very convenient, in the heart of the Central Business District. We could walk anywhere in the CBD, as well as to Carlton, Fitzroy, and Southbank. We also were able to walk to the Southern Cross train station with all our luggage in less than 15 minutes to catch our train to Sydney.

One downside was the uneven service--some of the staff were really nice and helpful, while others were uninterested and bordered on surly. Oh well. Considering we got a good deal for the time of year ($160/night on Agoda), we weren't complaining and were pretty happy overall.

Causeway 353 was exactly what we were looking for. Comfortable & close to City. We were in Melbourne City for 5 nights before touring down the coast and the location was fantastic. The hotel is situated in the centre of the city, basically step out and you are in the centre of Melbourne. Rooms were relatively small but nice and presented well. Rooms also very quiet as well all considering. Breakfast was basic but once again very nice. Highly recommend if you are looking for a place to stay and wanting to be in the heart of Melbourne.
