“Great city location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2014

Stayed at Causeway 353 for 9 nights over Christmas and New Year. Had stayed here the previous year and just loved the location! We walked everywhere (even to the MCG where we went to the cricket). It is a basic hotel and can feel quite confined if you stay in your room - but who goes to Melbourne to do that? Even looking out the window can be looking straight into an office building but the room we had did have views and I could see the GPO building on Bourke Street.
Basic continental breakfast that's the same everyday but lots of options. The front desk staff were always helpful and the room cleaned well everyday. The only annoying thing was the mini bar fridge was very small and overstocked with hotel items so you couldn't put your own things in there - and also the freezer never froze a water bottle over 3 days which would have been nice. Bed was huge and very comfy and room was quiet as it's down a laneway and not on a main road.

The location of the hotel was perfecgt for the type of the holidays that I had, which was to visit and see the sight in the city!! centrally located, I could walk and walked almost everywhere in the city. The arcade near by were perfect place to stop for breakfast, coffees and stop just before going to be at the end of the day!!The staff were friendly and very approachable, my room was cleaned daily! I was really impressed with the place!!Well Done!!!

Stayed here January 2014. Location is great, couldn't get much more central. Just around the corner from Melbourne's main streets.

Hotel itself isn't bad, very clean, good service decent rooms etc. the only thing that marks it down for me is the fact that it is very uninspiring. There is nothing to make it stand out, no nice little touches or bits of design flair. The rooms are pretty dark with little natural light.

If you are after a practical, super centrally located room in the heart of Melbourne then this is a good option, there are much prettier though I would imagine.

Stayed here over Xmas New Year... A bed and bathroom, a minibar, service good, business centre was out of order. Reception staff good and helpful. Hotel was in an alley so no views but quiet. Continental breakfast was basic and included in room rate. Central to shops, trams, southbank, and sports arenas. Would stay here again.

Paid $460 for a 2 night stay. Room comprised of a king size bed, TV, fridge and bathroom. The location is very handy, but on the downside...they put queen size sheets on a king size bed. Very uncomfortable wrinkled sheets as soon as you lay down, cant tuck them in! Air conditioner was adjustable, so thats a plus. Hotel was down a lane which meant you didnt get much street noise. Ordinary but clean hotel but a bit on the pricey side.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

I stayed here for a business trip in November and added an extra night for some quality shopping on the weekend. The hotel is in a small alley way off Little Collins Street, which is jumping from early morning with cafes and lunch restaurants. After these close up, it's a bit odd walking down what looks like an abandoned alley, but I didn't have any issues and the proximity to shop and a few good eateries in the area was great.

The room itself was clean and tidy, a really good size and had all that you needed (iron, coffee and tea making facilities, a complimentary bottle of water, small fridge, toiletries etc) if a big ragged around the edges now (but for about $150 pn including breakfast, you can't expect the Ritz for a CBD hotel).

The staff were really helpful (having one booking for work and one for personal I though I may have to move rooms or something, but they linked them so I just stayed in the one room with no issues) and they don't charge to leave your bags in their locked room if you arrive too early - or leaving your bags there after you check out.

All up, a great spot for a great price and where I'll be staying from now on for any shopping trips.

The bed was really comfortable, the room airconditioned and there was a TV (not a great selection of stations, but really, you're there to shop or work, so you're not spending a great deal of time in the room).

The breakfast was served in what looked to be the restaurant (which now only does breakfasts). so it's quite a large room with heaps of tables and the buffet area at back. The rate I paid included a continental breakfast only, so cereals, various breads, pastries, yoghurts, fresh fruits and an odd little selection of cold meats and cheese. There's also a coffee machine (not flash) and a good selection of teas and instant coffees.
