“Excellent location, nice hotel & great value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

We stayed here for 3 nights recently and it was great. We read a lot of reviews for different hotels and had trouble deciding. In the end we went with this one cause it seems like a good location and the price was reasonable and included b'fast. The location turned out to be excellent. The b'fast was pretty basic but then again it was only meant to be a cold breakkie and after all, all the melbourne cafes outside were beckoning us. It was handy to have on the days we had an early start and had to eat something quick and easy. Would definately recommend this hotel and we plan to go back again.

This Deluxe Twin Room hotel is excellent in terms of location and facilities. Clean beddings and bathroom, equipped with amenities like microwave, small fridge bar and very, very reasonable room rates especially if you are able to book on 'expo rates'. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms from 3rdfloor up is very good.

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. Staff were very attentive and the 24 hour desk meant that no matter what time I came back there was someone there to answer any questions I had. rooms were well sized and the bed was very comfortable. Mini bar stocked the basics and there was space to put items to make room for drinks I purchased myself.

The bathroom was clean and fresh, although the shower head is extremely tall - if you need to adjust, I hope you are tall! there is plenty of room in the cupboards for hanging clothing or storing bags if you are there for more than a few days. however the views are of adjacent buildings making the windows only good for light maybe.

the location is great - during the day the cafes in the lane are open - although if you have a disability this may make it a bit more difficult to get to the doorway. the entrance is half way down a cobbled lane off a major and minor street. it is only a couple of blocks to the train station and the other way one block to the Burke St Mall shopping precinct. there is a convenience store and bottle shop within a short walk, and you are surrounded by banks!

the breakfast was part of my stay so I indulged, it is in a room downstairs and basic but plentiful - pastries, bread, selection of juice, fruit (watermelon, green melon and rockmelon), yoghurt and tea/coffee. I think there were some cereals as well.

Wifi worked well in the room - just a note on this they say it is 24 hours - I found that this was 24 physical hours of actual surfing, not a calendar/clock 24 hours. so as long as you shut your computer down it will only count the time that you are actually using it - but don't 'log off' or it is gone! my time easily lasted over 2 days and I still had hours left.

there is a business centre and gym, but I didn't get a chance to try them out.

Just back from 3 nights in Melbourne with 3 of my friends. We had a great time, and found this hotel was in a fantastic location for Melbourne shopping, theatres, trams and the Yarra. We had 2 twin rooms, decor was pleasant and the included breakfast had choices of fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast, pastries and coffee/tea. Staff were helpful and pleasant, the rooms were clean. This is our 3rd time staying here, and we would stay again.

Location is excellent. The room, although quite small, was well set out and comfortable for a short stay. We found the room to be clean, the bed was comfortable, and best of all, there was no noise during the night, a real plus. The breakfast room was great, and very convenient, with a good selection on offer. The receptionist was very polite and helpful.

Found this little gem through the Internet and couldn't be happier with our stay there. While the address is Little Collins Street a very 'Melbournesque' lane-way takes you to the Hotel entrance. What a lovely surprise to find the lane-way buzzing with people enjoying food and coffee! A warm reception from Hotel staff sealed the deal. No view from the room's window but this was irrelevant given the purpose of our trip: shopping and eating! Pretty sure that the higher floors would have some sort of view. The gym was reasonably well equipped but it was a bit stuffy and we had to chock the door open to provide some air from the hallway. But the supply of water bottles and fresh towels was appreciated (on the second day the bottles hadn't been replaced). The reasonable tariff included a continental breakfast. Do yourself a favour and scrap this because Melbourne has THE best places to dine! We found the cavernous basement dining space quite depressing and while the 'continental' breakfast would satisfy those on a budget, we only tried it once.

Room Tip: The lane-way side is super quiet but has no view from the lower floors.
