“Roberts Review.”

A park where football and cricket are played. Close to town, in suburbia. A beautiful venue for picnics, restaurants, tram stops.

“Love it!”
Reviewed January 26, 2012

Great park for taking the kids, dogs, climbing trees, playing a game of soccer or frisbee, or just reading a book in a shady spot. A huge park that's overlooked by most Melbournians.

“Quiet and peaceful”

Great location! plenty of space for everyone and every kind of sport. Cool in the summer lots of beautiful trees. Pity there is not any kiosks there as it could do with a couple.

“One for the locals”
Reviewed April 19, 2011

This is very much a place for locals. Melbournians are like New Yorkers in that they use their public spaces unselfconsciously. Here you will see people with their dogs; mums and dads with their kids; office workers sunning themselves; people with time on their hands reading books. You can also get a coffee near the tennis courts. It's not as beautiful as the Botanic Gardens but it's an authentic local park. I use it most days and love it.

“Pleasant English-style park”
Reviewed October 31, 2008

If you are looking for a large park in Melbourne with native flora, do not come here.

It is very much a large, inner suburban English-style park, with cricket ovals or grounds and straight paths sheltered by exotic (European) trees.

There is little or nothing in the way of commercial development in the park but it is bounded to the west by the back of office buildings along St Kilda Road, and to the south by the Alfred Hospital and the Chevron development near the Commercial and St Kilda Roads corner, so there are now a few cafes close by.

While I walked through it this morning in spring on a pleasant day, the best time of year (haha) is in winter on a foggy morning (not guaranteed in winter but does occur).
