“Well Furnished Room, Comfortable Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

I stayed at the Quest East melbourne for one night while visiting Melbourne for a conference. This apartment hotel is located a block from the Melbourne Hilton, easy walk to bridge Road shopping and sporting venues. It is a bit of a hike to the city but I didn't have time anyway. The rooms are really well furnished, very stylish with good facilities. The shower area is small with no wall separating the basin from the shower recess. If you were staying here for more than a few days I think that would get very annoying.

There is no restaurant or room service but a great breakfast cafe just around the corner and some excellent restaurants within a five minuite walk. The Hilton is just up the room as well with a nice bar.

This is a quiet hotel and convenient as well with the tram stop just out the front. I would stay here again if I was coming to Melbourne for a conference. It wouldn't suit me for a holiday because there are limited facilities and no pool.

Room Tip: Try for end end room at the back with windows on two sides because the rooms are smallish.

Hi Mark, thank you for your review. I believe we are ideally located for the conferences which are held at the Hilton, MCG or Melbourne Park, with the longest walk about 15 mins. With our upgrade program we will be adding some extras in the bathrooms like some hooks to hang up towels and clothing and towel racks. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Regards Jenny

We decided to try Quest East Melbourne as we were going to watch an AFL game at the MCG. In terms of location, these studio style apartments were ideal. The MCG is literally, just across the road. It was very comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly. I believe it was recently taken over by new owners, so I will look forward to trying it again, after some more changes have been implemented. Our room was a twin suite with two double beds. There was plenty of room for two adults and two teenagers however a bigger television is definitely needed. The bathroom was modest but quite acceptable. The highlight of these studios is the rooftop garden. We really enjoyed looking out to the MCG and we could also see the Southbank precinct.
Car parking is limited but the hotel provided us with a parking permit for the street just round the corner for $10.
Overall a nice little hotel and unbeatable location if you are going to watch footy at the MCG.

Hi,

Last week was my 2nd stay at the property. I love this place because it is a little jewel with a lot of character and definitely some of the friendliest staff I have met staying at many hotels around the country. I love that you can walk to the city and also have shops and eating choices at the door step. This time I also met the new owners who are very friendly and enthusiastic to improve the property further. I noticed already on this stay that the property was very clean and there was a great new vibe. I recommend that you pre book the car park when you make your reservation as it is limited but I also recommend not to worry about a car as it is very affordable to catch a cab to the city and back. Lovely staff, funky feel and you can already notice the new owners are making an improvement. Great value with free WIFI.

Room Tip: All apartments have a little fully equipped kitchenette but I recommend the Executive apartment for...

Staff so friendly and professional, rooms are very smart and neat. Felt very secure and so close to the city. Suburb absolutely beautiful. Walking distance less then 5 min walk to the members entry to the MCG

This is a small hotel in an East Melbourne suburb of old attractive houses, good cafes and pleasant gardens. It is close to two large parklands, and with the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the tennis arena in easy walking distance. Trams (about every 10 minutes) run into the city centre, or in the opposite direction, to interesting clothing, fashion and food streets. The hotel is staffed by friendly and helpful people - seem to students on the front desk - who provided good efficient service. The studio rooms have an Art Deco style with well maintained furniture and furnishings, smallish shower/toilet, comfortable bed, table, chairs and sofa. Also the room has microwave, stove, sink, etc for cooking if inclined. Lights everywhere. Free wifi! Take breakfast in one of the nearby cafes.

Room Tip: Ignore the rating on the swimming pool - could not deselect it. If tram noise hampers sleeping, then...

Here are all the reasons why you should NOT stay at this hotel:
1. Booked an executive suite for 5 direct with the hotel. On check-in was told I could not use my frequent flyer card as this was a 'special' rate so not eligible. I was not told this when booking.
2. Hair all over the bathroom sink, toilet and floor.
3. Large chip out of the glass table and dried food scraps around the rim of the table.
4. Dining chairs were stained and dirty.
5. Dishwasher was filthy.
6. TV not tuned in properly so impossible to watch.
7. Required to pay full amount for room on arrival. After seeing the room I now know why.
8. Staff hammering on our door at 8am on Sunday morning to ask if we were using our stove/oven
9. Sofa bed had the thinnest mattress we have ever seen and sagged so badly in the middle that two people could not possibly sleep on it.
Do yourself a favour and stay anywhere but at this hotel. Thankfully we were only there for one night.

Room Tip: Simple, stay somewhere else.

Hello Yellowglen,

I appreciate your comments.

My name is Jenny Mulqueen and I have recently taken over the ownership of Quest East Melbourne.

I appreciate you have taken time to outline your experiences of the property at your past stay and it is certainly regrettable that your stay was not a positive experience.

Please be assured that we have undertaken a detailed review of all areas of the property and over the coming months we will be taking the first steps of making significant improvements. The activities currently being undertaken and scheduled in the future, range from more expansive guest services, upgraded bedding apparel, upgraded cleaning regiment program and a significant upgrade/refurbishment of the property.

It is our belief that these changes will address the issues you have raised and significantly enhance the guest experience whereby Quest East Melbourne is considered as a “home away from home”.

I would request that you take the time to revisit the property and I would certainly welcome your comments and suggestions on any areas of improvement at that time.

Kind regards,
Jenny Mulqueen

My family and i recently stayed at the Quest East Melbourne, we booked a two bedroom apartment and ended up getting a studio, which was very nice but we had no privacy in the room because of its open living design, the two beds are separated by a bathroom in the centre of the room. The rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable and the staff are excellent. There is very limited off street parking but if you book well in advance they may be able to help you. I would recommend the Quest East Melbourne for couples or singles.
