Food was good. Overall the quality, quantity and range were excellent. Some of the dishes were very average or below average in taste however. We went on a weekday, not very crowded and service was excellent. We, however will NOT be going back for one and only one reason. They hit you with a credit card surcharge of 1.65% on the bill if paying by credit card. To us, this is totally unwarranted and unjustified. It is a poor " rip the customer" off practice. It is the not the amount but the principle of it. On previous nights we ate at smaller restaurants and cafes around town for a very small bill and paid by credit card. The irony of it was that these small struggling venues did not charge any surcharge at all. If this is the way MELBA's management wish to treat customers who spend a hefty amount on their meals then they do not deserve our business again.

Stunning view from comfortable seats is great way to spend a afternoon or evening in Melbourne. It's only a couple of minutes walk down south bank from the centre of the city. All the staff were attentive and helpful. There is alot of food, some like the roasts were underwhelming but the Japanese and Indian areas had excellent quality freshly prepared foods. The fresh salmon and tuna in particular were delicious along with the crabs and prawns. Plentiful desserts. It's pretty expensive, 54 for a weekday lunch is best value 100 for fri and sat dnner with pretty much the same food. Drinks extra. Takes out the weekly food budget in one shot but it is a lovely thing to be able to do.

We have eaten at the buffet at Melba before. But for the price difference between lunch and dinner, better off going at lunch time and enjoying the view of the city. The food was the same for both sittings.

I can't understand why a hotel as prestigious as Langham would choose to have a bistro style "trough-fest" with the associated gluttony which it is bound to attract. I have to confess my own guilt here! The Indian curries were tasty but lacked the authenticity of , say Bedi's in South Melbourne. The carvery roasts were dried out despite it being 6.45 when I dined. Overall the food was varied, plentiful but thoroughly average
