One of Melbourne’s little laneway café restaurants that impressed more than I had expected after a quick look at the menu. Its location almost opposite Flinders Street station makes it incredibly convenient as a meeting place and the food was excellent.
I loved the whitebait – probably some of the tastiest bites I have had in a long time and they appealed to my son too. Next time must order two serves!
The carrot gnocchi with lamb ragu was sensational and the lamb shoulder was also very good. I thought my pork belly was a little too dried out but that might be why the crackle was faultless.
We struggled to find a wine that appealed (our first choice was a waste of a cork) particularly as we were trying to highlight Victorian wines to NSW friends but eventually a Chilean merlot wowed everyone.
Service was hit and miss but I think that depends on who you get as some of the team were really good. Its not a large place but its got a good style to it and we would certainly go back.
