One of Melbourne’s little laneway café restaurants that impressed more than I had expected after a quick look at the menu. Its location almost opposite Flinders Street station makes it incredibly convenient as a meeting place and the food was excellent.

I loved the whitebait – probably some of the tastiest bites I have had in a long time and they appealed to my son too. Next time must order two serves!

The carrot gnocchi with lamb ragu was sensational and the lamb shoulder was also very good. I thought my pork belly was a little too dried out but that might be why the crackle was faultless.

We struggled to find a wine that appealed (our first choice was a waste of a cork) particularly as we were trying to highlight Victorian wines to NSW friends but eventually a Chilean merlot wowed everyone.

Service was hit and miss but I think that depends on who you get as some of the team were really good. Its not a large place but its got a good style to it and we would certainly go back.

What a great little place. We loved our meal here.

Service on the evening we were there from the owner and waitress was just great. The menu offered just the right number of options to be interesting and provide enough tempting, quality options for everyone's tastes; a similar principle applied to the wine, beer, and cocktail menus.

And the food ... oh the food! A wonderfully talented chef provides some of the best Italian meals we have ever tasted, anywhere in the world.

La Citta is located in one of the most happening parts of Melbourne's dining district, but with its decor and overall quality it is also quite a bit classier than most of its neighbours.

Do try it - you won't regret it!

Couldn't believe we stumbled upon this little Gem. The service was incredible, the homemade carrot gnocchi with lamb ragu was so incredible, so too was the chocolate souffle and expresso martini. Can't wait to try their breakfast next time I am in Melbourne.

We have eaten here on several occasions and it is always good. It isn't stunning or fashionable - it is better than that.

We stopped at La Citta while walking about the little streets and walkways of Melbourne city. The waitress was very friendly and so sat down and gave the place a try.

As it was about 25C and sunny that day, we sat outside, ate and people watched. We ordered the house wine, set lunch of the day and some tapas. The food was good!

Tapas >> Try the aubergine with feta cheese and the lamb cutlets. Simply lovely.

Price >> A little on the steep side, but it's well worth the treat :)
