Honestly this has been the highlight of my trip so far! I loved the great ocean road because of the wonderful scenery and lush coastal views! I'd you love driving you will love this road!! It's brilliant with all the twists and turns and straights! It's fantastic and while you are driving down you get to look at some of the best views around! I must sayid you are going to do it then first get around 4/5 people and rent a car! It works out cheaper and is much more fun and 2nd I would do it over two days rather than one! Take your time and enjoy it!! A must do if you are in the country!!

simply awesome. though its a 4 hours drive from melbourne as its around 240 k.m. but its worth every minute. u will see some breathtaking scenes. road conditions are very good so any one can drive easily which is d best option. in between u can take breaks as ther r number of cafes and eateries or u can carry ur food and drinks as they have lot of places to sit around which also have bar-b-q facilities too. but the main attraction is d twelve opostles which is just amazing. so one should not miss this as its just out of the world.

I would like to advise anyone booking an APT Day Tour to ensure you are actually recieving APT and not a substandard mini bus tour.
I booked a tour at the APT Day Office on the Corner of Little Bourke and Swanston Street, it cost mne $144.00 but they gave me a small discount. (On Sunday 10 Feb).

I got on the bus beside the Welcome Hotel, it was the oldest, dirtyest, smashed up mini bus with GLV written on the side. The driver was Chinese (which was OK) but I couldnt understand him and most of his commentary was in Chinese. 13.5 hours in a small dirty, cramped mini bus with no toilet, no video and certainly not a luxurious coach and knwledgeable driver as advertised.

It was the worst journey of my lfe, my wide was ill and it was just disgusting.

I have travelled with APT in NZ and they were great, here in Melbourne they are horrible; be careful and get what you pay for!

Drove down from Melbourne through to Port Campbell ,getting on The Great Ocean Road at Angelsea most of the pull outs and scenic lookouts are on your left side so if you are pressed for time go this way first then take inland route back.
Lorne or Apollo Bay ideal spot to stop for lunch and there is less crowded beaches to stop at like Wye River , Kennett River, Skenes Creek are ideal and you can have stretches of sand to yourself.

This is not a drive to rush, take your time and enjoy the views all along the Great Ocean Road.
That being said, make sure you have had a really good night's sleep prior to attempting to drive as some areas have quite sharp turns and actually require you to be awake for the journey!
Your view is constantly changing and will keep you entertained the entire way. You will have a chance to enjoy nature at it's finest and really appreciate the beauty of the view. Pack a picnic and enjoy the stops on the way!
