Very rare you can have three meals and each be fantastic and no complaints. The mussels with chorizo were amazing, the lamb shanks, mash and red cabbage wonderful and we had a dessert that had a ginger biscuit/ snap that was delicious. Took a long time as it was so busy but the staff were lovely and attentive

This swish cafe / restaurant is perfectly situated in the middle of Salamanca. We took a break form the Sunday markets to search out a proper 'sit down' lunch, and found it at Smolt.
Service was fast and friendly, the menu offered plenty of variety, and the food was great.

We visited this restaurant on. Friday night during a festival so it was pretty busy. We had been recommended to eat here and the food didn't disappoint which is he main hing.

However, this place is pretty expensive so you expect a little extra. The fit out is nice, a modern Danish feel, spacious.

The points deducted are really based on value for money and service. We were seated near the entrance on a large communal table which might be of for lunch or mid priced food but for 20 dollar entree, 35+ mains and expensive drinks, you don't want to be seated on a communal table. It was busy so we took it.

The place had only two main floor staff and they were trying hard but doing it tough. We didn't get a drinks menu for some time, had chaos all around us with people coming and going with little control by he staff, people just hanging around.

I can Maine this place getting 5 stars at times but on our experience 3 is it. The food was tasty in the end so if its a bit quiet give it a go!

A great meal (a very well cooked steak). Lots of lovely entrees to choose from. Great wine to fossick through. The atmosphere of the square isn't amazing, so get a seat inside, as it's well decorated.

We'd read a number of good reviews for SMOLT and were therefore disappointed when our experience did not match the enthusiasm of past diners. Our meals were hit and miss. My husband's starter of braised octopus was tender in parts, tougher in others. My pork terrine was bland although the relish that came with it, was nice and spicy. There was nothing wrong with my husband's main dish of venison and sausage risotto, he just didn't rave about it, and my baby chicken whilst it was most attractively served was a little overwhelmed by the labneh which accompanied it. We thought the wine list was seriously overpriced. The atmosphere was subdued. Most people seem to arrive, eat and leave fairly quickly, but then it was a Thursday night and perhaps everyone had to be up early for work the next morning. We had the luxury of being on holiday. So would I recommend it. No. We visited others that in our opinion were so much better.
