We were recommended and thankfully booked before flying into Hobart for a long weekend. Yes Smolt is very busy.
Service was very good, thank you.
At dinner the lighting was poor and detracted from what could have been a pleasant environment. Lucky we were near the kitchen and could use the light overspill. Wine menu was on the expensive side (we noted this of most restaurants in Hobart)
The food menu had good choices and there were many items that tempted - unfortunately a number of the dishes we ordered were very disappointing. The crumbed pork cheek entree special was overcooked and bland. The beetroot and goats cheese salad was fine. I eat duck whenever I can so naturally I went for the duck confit - poor choice - overcooked and stringy. My partners fish special of trevalla with prawn bisque was fine. Our dessert ice cream choice was rather ordinary & the cheese ok.
Yes we went back for breakfast - a second chance - and service had been good. Sat down the back - not good on a pleasant morning - bit dull. Breakfast menu was good and our choice of scrambled eggs with local salmon and muesli with fruit and yoghurt were very enjoyable.
