We went for a light lunch but the servings are quite substantial and the pastry is very heavy but with good flavour. Rather old fashioned in some of the cakes and pastries being served but I must say I loved the cream bun, hadn't had one for donkeys years. Service is very efficient considering the crowds and the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful

Hobart now is a foodie's paradise...and if you are time short and you feel like you just cant see everything i would definitely recommend making time to visit Jackman & McRoss.

The crowds can be a little daunting, but they disappear quickly due the quick and friendly service.

The choice of sweet and savory pastries are endless, and the size of the portions are massive. The best chocolate muffin i have ever had.

A pleasant walk along Hampden Road is a great way to also see the beautiful old buildings of Battery Point.

We went here for lunch after reading a couple of good reviews. The restaurant was busy. We ordered Pies as we had heard great things about the pies in Hobart.
They came looking good. The pastry from the outside looked crisp & light but it was in fact so so thick it was uncooked on the inside. Not nice. The fillings were really quite tasteless & not enjoyable. I asked for the side salad for an extra $5.50 & expected a nice fresh leafy salad to go with my already quite heavy pie. What came was a bowl of pasta, peas, cooked carrots, feta cheese, onion & about 2 pieces of lettuce in the bottom. Very disappointing. My partner ordered his as is without the additional salad & that came with rocket leaves which was in fact all I had wanted. I did ask the staff initially what the pies came with & they said relish no mention of the rocket!
To sum it up it was disappointing. Wouldn't return

Very relaxed atmosphere, good service, good range of breakfast/brunch food options and reasonable prices even for expensive Australia. What else can you ask for. The only disappointment was the baguette which did not look or taste like the real thing.
