This was the third time I have eaten at Me Wah Hobart (I have also dined a few times at the original in Launceston) and I cannot really fault their evening sittings.
The first time I went they allowed my children to share a main meal after they ordered their own entree, while the rest of us had a banquet. When their meal came out, the staff came with a trolley and split the meal in two at the table so I didn't have to do a thing.
This time the staff were no less courteous and the sommelier knowledgable and helpful.
We (including the kids) had the Peony banquet and even though the restaurant filled and there were two large parties, courses were nicely timed and exquisite.
I always love their sang choi bow and the seafood dumplings were gorgeous.
Only one of us wanted the dessert that came with the banquet (which I tasted and was beautiful anyway), but they were more than happy for most of us to order from the menu so I could get my 'favourite dessert' (this was conveyed from maitre'd to the staff). I loved their deep fried icecream - heaven in a bowl!
Expensive yes, but also worth it. It would be cheaper to share a few mains and entrees, which I would like to do next time.
