“An excellent breakfast.”
Reviewed January 15, 2013 via mobile

If you're not on a tight budget and staying neat Salamanca place, this is your breakfast place. Imaginative but not untraditional breakfasts- trio of mushrooms on sourdough, house-braised cannellini beans with eggs, ricotta hotcakes, orange, carrot and ginger juice-hit the target. Good coffee too.

“Not bad”
Reviewed January 4, 2013 via mobile

Food, service and atmosphere were all good. A bit pricey for what you get. You won't be disappointed but there are better value brekkie spots nearby.

“Great Cafe!”
Reviewed November 20, 2012 via mobile

We came to Zum at the recommendation of fellow backpackers we met on our Tasy trip and we were glad he was right! The latte and flat white rivals some of the cafe's we frequent in Melbourne albeit also being a tad more expensive than the normal cafe cuppa.

We ordered the "Big breakfast" and Ricotta Hotcakes. Both were serviced within 10 min of placing the order. the mushrooms were juicy, maintaining their original taste, the bacon were a bit dry but not oily at all which was to my liking. the toast, poached eggs and lamb sausage were exactly what they should have been.

the hotcakes came with syrup, ricotta and berry compote separate as we requested, I think they could given us slightly bigger portions of the sauces. but either way we were very happy with the texture of the hotcakes with the combination of flavours.

overall although slightly pricy, it is not hard to understand why it seemed to be popular amongst the locals working near by.

“Has potential, shame about the food”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

We had a relaxing lunch at Zum, we found it to be a bright comfortable cafe with a good atmosphere and reasonable service. Judging by the other patrons it is clearly a favourite for bussiness lunches, usually an indication of decent value and quality however we were dissapointed overall with our meals. I had a beef salad that was more meat than salad and IMHO overcooked and dripping with oil and made the whole meal dissapointing, throw in a dirty wine glass (they did happily replace the wine when I pointed it out) and the other meals were nothing to stand out to make us want to eat here again during our stay,
