Description: Jill & George Mure opened Tasmania's first licensed seafood restaurant, Mures Fish House, in 1973 in Hobart. When they struggled to source quality, fresh, local seafood, George went fishing. More than 40 years on, now owned by Will & Jude Mure, Mures remains a favourite of locals and visitors alike, located in Hobart's working fishing port at Victoria Dock. Mures' philosophy of fresh Australian seafood, sourced from sustainably managed fisheries still rings true from the ocean to the plate. With an international reputation for Tasmania's world class seafood, Upper Deck is the ultimate seafood experience in Hobart.Enjoy expansive dockside views and a la carte dishes, often changing daily with the freshest catch, featuring the finest seafood and very best local produce. Perfectly complement your meal with their award-winning exclusively Tasmanian wine list. Reservations are recommended. Upper Deck specialises in functions from private dining for small groups to large corporate events and are experienced in tailoring an event to suit your needs.

I would recommend people to go here to say you have been and tried a meal there .
The salmon was amazing and the dessert wine picked for me was lovely .
It's the best I found in hobart a big pricey for a meal alone but worth it to experience the meals .
The atmosphere was a older crowd so as a twenty something dining alone it was a bit slow paced but the salmon was lovely

This was simply disappointing to say the least.

Admittedly my expectations may have been a little high, having travelled from Melbourne to Hobart to celebrate my 40th birthday. The expectation was that as Mures catches its own fish this would be the freshest possible selection of fish we could get in Hobart. I was looking forward to a night of expertly cooked seafood complemented by some great Tasmanian wines. But it was impossible to know as everything was fried and accompanied by soggy fries or just incredibly uninspired when looking at the menu. I ordered the lightly fried scallops that came out like popcorn chicken. Why, oh why, would you not offer pan seared scallops in scallop season??? Oysters were the only good thing during the meal. My partner (not a seafood fan) opted for the rib eye that came to the table looking and tasking like flavourless old boots. Feedback given to the waiter when most of it was left on the plate received a "Thanks for the feedback - it helps when we develop the menu" and that was about it.

This is not a venue I would recommend to anyone looking for a romantic evening or for a special occasion. It takes no advantage of its assets including the venue location and the seafood. The lighting is awful and impossible to take a vaguely flattering photograph ("as if turning 40 wasn't bad enough!" she cheerfully snides) Thankfully this was the only negative experience during our stay in Hobart - just wish we'd gone somewhere else.

The location is perfect being right on the water in Hobart. The service was great but the hype about the food I must say was unfounded. We had a $99 seafood platter which while nice was not spectacular.

We decided, on the spur of the moment, with no booking, to treat ourselves to lunch. We were warmly welcomed and taken straight to a window table overlooking beautiful Hobart harbour. The view was amazing, fascinating and totally relaxing at the same time. (Ever noticed when looking down at a seagull that when it folds its wings it has several black dots on its tail feathers? ) We were served immediately by a waitress with a lovely smile who obviously enjoyed her work. The menu was extensive and it was hard to choose but we finally settled on a delicious prawn and fish pie. On arrival it looked exquisite.....not your run-of-the-mill pie! It was a square of the most mouthwatering puff pastry topped with seafood and a very crunchy light salad for topping. But the "piece de resistance" was the wonderful sauce with an exquisite flavour we hadn't enjoyed before......This was Perfection on a plate! Desert was a further adventure into flavour with a lemon and lime Creme de Brûlée with that crackly signature topping which never fails to please. This was served with crisp almond and pistachio wafers. The usual accompaniments of good wine and excellent coffee was the icing on the cake. Can't wait to try every dish on the menu! Note: They have an annual "Prawn Fest" which should not be missed if in Hobart at the time.
