Tight quarters on deck, but we both loved the old ship clutter. We shared 4 entrees including the best seafood chowder we've tasted. Melt-in-your-mouth scallops and Japanese trawler prawns also a highlight. Tassie wine also good. Overall menu and wine list excellent. Perhaps could use a little soft background atmosphere such as breaking waves, seagulls, ships bells ringing, deck crew noise etc to get the landlubbers into the swing of it all. Would recommend.

Right from the moment we walked into the Drunken Admiral, we knew we had chosen well. The service was attentive and friendly upon arrival and throughout the time spent there. There is so much detail in the theme of the restaurant and it provided a constant source of entertainment. Australia traditionally does not do themed restaurants well, so this place was exciting!

The food was also amazing! With very fresh tasmanian seafood and a lovely dessert menu, you can't go wrong with this place.

We got there early and thankfully were able to get a table without booking. However had we not got there early, even though it was a Tuesday night in Hobart, we would not have got a table. Best to book ahead to avoid disappointment.

This quirly looking resturant was a great night out. My husband and I, on recommendation from a friend, tried this resturant while in Hobart. Upon opening the front door we were greeted with the whimsical fun of the nautical themed decor. After finding our way to the bar (it's a little overwhelming how much stuff they have everywhere!) we were welcomed by very friendly staff who showed us to a charming (and small) table. The food... amazing. There wasn't anything that didn't taste fantastic. The saladbar could have done with some more variety but it was fresh and tasted pretty darn good for salad. My main, a hot plate with skewers of scallops prawns and fish were fantastic! If in need of a beverage and your driving try the mermaid mocktail, delicious. My husband was just as impressed with his main of deep fried seafood. Also their desserts (which look kind of small) tasted amazing. I had the berry sponge with white choc cream and vanilla bean ice cream which I would suggest to anyone to try.
I will be recommending this place to everyone I meet who is going to Hobart.

A great restaurant and well patronized so we were pleased we chose it. Fun for the family with the decor and menu. The staff were happy and able to share their suggestions. The food was really good and it was difficult to make a choice.

Seafood chowder is very good.
Scallops on a hot plate - average only for the price you pay
Deco is very good - it is like you are in a ship!!
