We took the two bedroom Townhouse which turned out to be a first floor apartment, plus the one bedroom self-contained Garret apartment on second floor level. While the location proved to be better than expected, we did not realize the apartments were above shops with outdoor stairs to each one. so a mean climb for women with heavy luggage. To be fair the owner did help carry ours, but others may not be so lucky. Both units were generously provisioned with ample supplies of bacon, eggs, tomatoes, bread, milk , an enormous fruit bowl, fresh flowers and other pantry items like cereals and sauces plus TV’s, DVD’s, and games like Scrabble. The two bedroom apartment could have accommodated many more with a double bedsettee in the main bedroom and another in the living room but with only one bathroom that included the toilet bathroom, queues could be a problem. However it would be ideal place for a large family on a budget or three to four women each getting a separate bed.

We stayed here for our honeymoon for 5 nights and loved it. It is really well located and has everything you need. Lyn (the owner) put in generous breakfast provisions for us and we enjoyed a hearty breakfast each day. The lounge area is very large and the whole place is beautifully furnished. Highly recommended.

We did our research prior to going to Tassie for the first time. The brief...business holiday to secure new accounts and encompass young family in well deserved week off. The business side was eventful and worthwhile but the accommodation was completely surprising! A beautiful apartment in the absolute heart of Hobart literally on one of two major roads in the CBD. This first floor [not suitable for wheelchairs] is a renovated ex-produce store ex-pub [built by an ex-convict in 1836 and named the Saracens Arms]. The whole apartment is like a home away from home. Two VERY large bedrooms [one with a double sofa bed], separate and large kitchen plus [also separate] an exceptional lounge/family room with Chesterfield sofas and antique furnishings. DVD and Flat screen TV together with every imaginable kids toy or dress up box and plenty of DVD's to choose from on those wet, cold afternoons makes it absolutely Australia's [and of course Tassie's] best family/location apartment around! We had brekky provisions supplied for four days and it was magnificent! Bacon, free range eggs, cereals and organic breads...the list seemed endless. I can't recommend this venue enough for your next Tassie trip! Host Linda was more than helpful [on many occasions] with tidbits of advice on local stuff just via a casual phone call and more than excitable in encouraging local providores and Tasmanian produce [of which we eagerly hunted out]. Got KIDS? Book this apartment. Got BUSINESS in Hobart or looking for a HOME BASE to explore all surroundings [Tassie is very accessible] Then look no further! Take it from someone who normally cant be bothered by doing this type of thing...you won't be disappointed!

Fantastic. By far the best accom during our three week tour of Tasmania. Central, a real home away from home. In fact, I wish home was this good. We shared the appartmentment with our travelling mates and had a wonderful time. The single flight of stairs was not a problem at all.

Our family of five stayed here for 2 nights. The townhouse is very comfortable with two bedrooms, and our children aged 13,11 and 9 slept in a very large room with a queen size bed and fold out sofa bed. There is a queen size bed in the other bedroom.
The lounge/dining room is a lovely, comfortable room with two chesterfields and another couch which can also be used as a sofa bed. There is an antique dining table and sideboard and a flat screen hd tv.
There are plenty of dvds for adults and kids and story books and toys for younger children. The kitchen is compact with dishwasher, microwave and is so well equipped you could cook up a storm if thats what you wanted.
Lyn (the host) left very generous breakfast provisions with bacon, eggs, cereal, tea, coffee and milk which was plenty for two mornings.
The townhouse is in a great location basically in the heart of the city. We had an easy walk to Salamanca Market and the waterfront. Dont be put off by thinking it might be noisy as it is a very solid old building with double glazing and the noise is not an issue.
Entry is through a side gate and up the stairs and parking is provided in the hotel carpark directly across the street.
I highly recommend the Jackson Townhouse, it is in a great location, clean, warm, comfortable with a friendly, helpful but not intrusive host.
We loved it.

I was looking for self contained accommodation in central Hobart and found this property via their website.

It was a superb find. There is a spacious 2 bedroom unit on the first floor and a 1 bedroom unit on the 2nd floor. (That is the only caution - the stairs) I stayed in the 1 bedroom unit and it was very well put together with everything one could ask for; including breakfast provisions (eggs, bacon, tomato, OJ, milk, cereals, bread) and a substantial fruit bowl.

The rate is good value for money in comparison with other places in Hobart. The location is quite good within walking distance to the action spots of Hobart.
