Owner description: Louisa's Walk is a piece of Strolling Theatre or Walking Play that takes you on a journey into the life of Louisa Ragan, an Irish convict, sent to Van Diemen's Land on a seven year sentence, in 1841, for stealing a loaf of bread. You walk with the actors as they tell Louisa's story. You will meet Louisa outside the famous Cascade Brewery building in South Hobart. You will walk through the beautiful Cascade Gardens along to the World Heritage listed Cascades Female Factory Historic Site where Louisa was imprisoned. Once you enter those locked gates, they are shut behind you and you experience life in this harsh prison. You may laugh and you may cry but you will remember Louisa's story!

A beautiful way to experience Hobart's history. I highly recommend this to everyone. A two person theatrical telling of the story of a convict transported to Hobart. Very moving. It starts in South Hobart next to the Cascade Brewery and finishes in the Female Factory. I wasn't expecting too much but was blown away.

Although this was not my favourite thing in Hobart I did see the value of it. The performers did an excellent job and were happy to answer any questions afterwards.
The female factory site is quite bare so the performance really gave the audience and idea of what it would have been like as a female convict.
However as great as the story was, I guess I am just a bit over hearing about convict history as a born and bred Aussie. I think it would be fantastic for international tourists and school groups though.

This is an amazing experience not to mention great value for money. The two incredible actors take you on a journey so believable was their ability to play the real life characters make your emotions be played. This was by far the best thing we did in Tasmania on our recent trip. So impressed we have booked to take the entire family back in December.

A fantastic experience - hilariously funny and extremely sad at the same time. Suitable for all ages, we had our youngest son enjoying every second, and we learnt a lot about the female factory and the convicts in Tasmania in a very interactive, hands on way. I would definitely reccommend this to all ages and anyone who is in for some fun!

Great story and acting. We had a small group which was good. The 2 actors created an immersive experience which took you back to the convict times. The area they take you through is very beautiful - even in winter. One downside would be the location - it starts at the Cascade Brewery which is convenient if you're doing a tour there, but it's about an hour (and a bit) to walk from Hobart CBD (slightly uphill) so you may need to arrange transport if this is too much. We walked up and back (felt much quicker on the way back). There's not a lot along the way either. This didn't detract too much from the experience, but it's worth noting. The only other negative thing I have to stay about the tour is that while the story of Louisa is quite amazing, it's not the happiest story ever and it might be a bit deep for some.

For $35 it is definitely value for money. It's a worthwhile experience and a story you'll remember. It includes the female factory (or what's left of it) which is a world heritage site.
