Visited the signal station lookout at Mt Nelson due to the temporary closure of Mt Wellington & we're glad we did! The views are awesome - from Bruny Island to Eaglehawk neck & across the Tasman Peninsula. Great views of the Mt Wellington summit too!

Last time in Hobart we visited Mt Wellington. Mt nelson gives an alternative view to the one from Mt Wellington and is far easier to access. Only 15 minutes from the centre of Hobart and the views are simply stunning

This is worth the deviation from the motorway on your return to hobart from the South
.
I think only Tasmanians know about this as a place to visit, the views are great and theres a teashop and toilets there too.

Plus there seem to be quite a few interesting walks which Ill have to do next visit.

If you are short on time or do not want to traverse the narrow and windy road on Mount Wellington, them Mount Nelson is a great alternative. The views from the lookout overlook the city and South Arm is visible on a fine day. With a lower elevation, the lookout still provides an excellent vista over the city. There is also a cafe with relaxed outside seating, which is delightful on a warm sunny day.
Thanks for your vote.
