Superb - the oldest theatre in Australia and still full of life.

“Lovely old theatre”
Reviewed January 3, 2012

Great place to see a show, even more so because of the lovely old ornate theatre. Seating is a bit of a chore as seats are now all in one line with no aisle on the ground floor.

“Great Value, Nice atmosphere”
Reviewed December 8, 2011

Lovely little pub next door to Theatre Royal. Good Value, nice selection of meals and really nice atmosphere even if just for a quick drink. In Campbell St, opposite Royal Hobart Hospital in so close to city centre.

“Last-minute ticket to a fun show”
Reviewed October 29, 2011

I was so glad to see a show in Australia's oldest theater, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum". The acoustics were great and the show was very well-done.

“The audience is so CLOSE to the Stage - it's amazing!”
Reviewed September 29, 2010

We went along to the Theatre Royal in order to write a review for The Gatekeeper (puppet show) for www.think-tasmania.com. Just wanted to report that the actual theatre is a star venue. The seats are very close to the action - which is great. They have lots of shows on there, and I can't wait to return.
