Chon-Na-Kan is a small Thai restaurant located in the Sandy Bay hub near a number of other small cafes and restaurants.
The decor is fairly basic and lacking Thai atmosphere but the service is friendly and attentive and there is a good selection of choices on the menu including three choices of rice - steamed jasmine, coconut rice and my favourite, sticky rice.
I chose two entrees and had the fried bean curd with peanut sauce and also the fish cakes which tasted just like the ones I have had in Thailand.
My friend had a duck dish which looked beautiful and the duck was cooked to perfection but she felt it was a made a little sweeter for western tastes and not quite as authentic as she would have liked.
All the meals were very generous in size and served at the right pace and time sequence. In other words entrees and mains were brought out at intervals.
Overall I found this an enjoyable place to have a satisfying week night meal but probably would not view the restaurant as a "special occasion" place.
