Our group went to Doctor Syntax to watch the rugby union. Not only was the owner friendly and accommodating regarding putting a tv on the right channel for us, but we were pleasantly surprised at the venue overall. At the front is a sports bar, which is your usual pub in styling and offerings. Out the back is a very well decorated restaurant with low lighting and very warm ambience. There's an outdoor eating/smoking area too. Our meals were very generous in size and delicious. Meals such as chicken parmigiana feature a full chicken breast which is moist and delicious. There's also feta stuffed lamb rump, huge burgers, and a range of meals to delight vegetarians. It was packed the night we went but the meals arrived quickly, and the wait staff were all very polite and friendly. Forget the overhyped pubs in Battery Point and try Doctor Syntax. It's been in Sandy Bay since 1848 so they're doing something right! We will definitely be back to sample more of the menu.
