When I recently felt a real need for a good curry, our friend in Hobart knew Anil from his spice shop on Elizabeth Street, and recommended highly his family's restaurant that opened last year in Battery Point. I was over the moon with the smells of food coming from the kitchen where his wife was cooking, and since we had never eaten Nepalese food before, we asked Anil for a good selection of dishes. Each of us got the mixed entree platter of delicious bites, with mushroom, chicken and dumplings, and I felt like ordering a 2nd round, but held back as the mains were coming ... and for that we had chosen the traditional Thakali dinner that consisted of a dahl lentil soup, rice, and 2 curries presented on a silver tray. I had the beef and lamb curries, both with beautiful full round flavours, so rich and lovely that my mouth waters just thinking about them. Can't wait to go back for more! Prices are reasonable and offer a very good value, there is a wide selection including many vegetarian dishes. You can ask the chef to adjust the "heat" to your liking. Service was friendly and we sat in the front room, it was spacious and comfortable, there's also outside seating.
