“Excellent oysters and scallops”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

Almost tempted by the 30 oysters and bottle of wine for $69 (excellent value) but just needed scallops. All of the seafood was beautifully fresh and carefully presented. The wine was excellent. If anything, there could have been a bit more imagination and quality on the range of oyster toppings. Worcestershire sauce and bacon are ok. Use cream instead and its better. Asian dressing with lime juice, coriander and chilli is better than the unremarkable/forgotten combo. Semi poached in sparkling wine, topped with smoked salmon, cream cheese and caviar is to die for; more imagination and spend on ingredients is needed. No complaints on the scallops with avocado and........?? I just wish they were bigger!! All fresh and gorgeous, just a small addition required.

“Wow Wow Wow - Oysters Royale”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

What can I say, we drove past this place on our way to Port Arthur and swore we would come back.. well we did and will NEVER regret it.. if you are an Oyster fan there is NO EXCUSE for not coming here and enjoying their 30 Oyster platter for $49 at an absolute minimum.. the flavours are incredible, the oysters are incredible, the other food options are fanstastic, the staff are great and the value... pfffft who cares, its oysters, seafood, quail and decadent desserts, so jump on board and enjoy it on your way out of Hobart as it is right next to the airport...

“magnificent Tasmanian oysters”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

If you are an oyster officianardo, try this place on your travels.
Barilla Oysters appear to be farmers with leases in the local area and have built a terrific restaurant & takeaway facility especially to showcase their special oysters right near the Hobart airport on the main road between Hobart and Sorrel. Address is1388 Tasman Hwy Cambridge 7170 that I googled.
Alllll the oysters we bought here on our 3 visits to the place in March 13 were very fresh and delectable.
Oysters in the takeaway area can be eaten there at very reasonable prices ($11.90 per doz when we was there) and wine/ beers and cheezes are also available in the takeaway area.
The full service restaurant is on the 1st level and (I was told) very good too with all types of cooked seafood as well.
Just too good to pass up whilst exploring Tassi if you love oysters.
They can also pack to go via plane in foam containers but be aware some airlines will not allow the container as carry- on even though some containers are within allowed size.
