Owner description: MEET THE FOOD PRODUCERS, hear the stories and explore the many corners of Bruny Island. Bruny Island day tours, Bruny Island Lighthouse tours, Bruny Island Food tours, Bruny Island Sightseeing Tours and Bruny Island Overnight Tours. The only tour in Tasmania offering Lighthouse access in the South Bruny National Park. Eat your way around Bruny Island on a gourmet and sightseeing tour departing Hobart. Visit scenic lookouts overlooking Adventure Bay and Cape Bruny, and spot echidnas, white wallabies, birdlife and other wildlife. You'll taste the gourmet treats Bruny Island is famous for, from artisan cheeses and locally grown berries to smoked salmon, chocolates, nougat, fudge, cider and whisky on extended tours (small tasting fees may apply). With pick up and drop-off from your hotel included, along with the round-trip ferry and National Park entry, this is the ultimate way to experience Bruny Island's wild beauty and wickedly delicious gourmet food. Your tour begins with pickup from your Hobart hotel and a scenic drive to the pretty coastal town of Kettering, where your Bruny Island ferry departs. Enjoy the 15-minute cruise over to Bruny Island, then travel by air-conditioned minivan to the narrow neck of land connecting the north and south parts of the island, passing oyster farms and grazing properties en route. Your island tour begins with a private cheese tasting at Bruny Island Cheese Company. After this enjoy views from Adventure Bay lookout and the Hummock lookout, a significant indigenous site that's home to Truganini Memorial. Continue to Adventure Bay and stop for morning tea at the Bruny Island Berry Farm (Seasonal). Locally grown berry fruits are available in all kinds of ways here, including ice cream, pancakes, scones with jam and cream, strawberry and chocolate fondue, and berry cakes. Your tour continues along the Mount Mangana Trail, passing Cloudy Bay on the way to Cape Bruny Lighthouse. The Iconic Bruny Island Lighthouse is Australia's last vantage point to spot migrating humpback and southern right whales, and an important navigational landmark for ships at sea, and the oldest manned lighthouse in Australia. You will enjoy a group tour of the lighthouse and learn all about how it was built, climb the spiral staircase and see the original working prisms, before stepping out onto the balcony for the amazing coastal views elevated 114m above the sea. Feeling hungry by now, stop at Hotel Bruny for a wonderful lunch featuring local Tasmanian and island produce, including locally caught fish, and Tasmanian beef and lamb. The afternoon is all about nature and more food, with stops at Get Shucked super fresh oysters (Oyster tasting) and Bruny Island House of Whisky. Walk off your indulgent lunch and tastings on a short stroll along the beach and through Bruny Island's pristine rainforests keeping an eye out for echidnas, white wallabies, wildflowers and the island's unique birdlife. Later in the afternoon enjoy the round-trip ferry to Kettering, we drop into a gourmet ice-cream producer and stop off for a chocolate-making presentation and tasting at Nutpatch Nougat Chocolates before returning to Hobart, exclusive to Bruny Island Safaris (Not always available). Try our overnight and private Bruny Island tours and enjoy some Bruny Island short walks, maybe some jetty fishing and wind down at your cabin with a glass of local wine and cook up your catch. A proportion of our proceeds are donated to Wildcare for the upkeep of Light Stations around Tasmania, for the care and maintenance of the lighthouse stations and surrounding environment volunteer programs and groups operating on islands containing lighthouses and other lighthouse stations around Tasmania. Tour founder Craig Parsey grew up on many lighthouse stations around Tasmania, including the Cape Bruny Light Station. Knowing many of the last light keepers in Australia, Craig's family experience and stories will enhance your day on Bruny Island. “Loved Bruny - tour exceeded expectations!!!! Just book it!!!”

WOW what a day! Loved every minute and didn't want it to end. Our guide was Tim who was awesome, just very down to earth guy who loves his job and wants everyone to have a great day.... & he's a safe driver! The day was packed full of sights and tastings. Bruny has a lot to offer and this day trip helps you to experience it all. Advice: don't eat whilst you wait for the ferry as soon as you get to Bruny you stop at a cafe that has the most amazing scones and cakes, I made the mistake of eating at the ferry and still think about what everyone else ate at the cafe! Food tastings were cheese, oysters, smoked salmon place. Went to the light house (windy!!!) and also stopped at Adventura Bay. Only disappointment was I only saw one white wallaby. Thank you for a well run day! Good tour operators!!!

“Highlight of the Tasmanian experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2014

If there was a way to encapsulate everything wonderful about Tasmania then this tour does that.
It is great to surrender organisation and driving to an experienced tour guide and let the day unfold as a pampered and respected guest.
Bruny Island harks back to a gentler time with a dreamy pace of life .The landscape has the occasional farm but mainly is pristine wilderness.
Throughout the day our tour stopped for 'tastings' of handmade chocolate,, fruit, cheese, oysters, and whiskey. Lunch, included in the price, was served in a cosy room with a warming fire.
Tim knew the best of spectacular locations, had an excellent grasp of history and always gave clear directions and suggested viewing times. A safe driver over some hairy roads.
Wear warm clothing ,take a waterproof jacket and a good camera .

Not to be missed.

“A very full and enjoyable day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2014

Our guide for the day was Tim. He was funny and entertaining the entire time. It was so nice of him to offer some unplanned drop-off points at the end of our tour to save us slogging in the rain.
Our day was filled with lovely scenery, a few wallabies, tastes of local foods and a few short hikes that definitely got the blood flowing. I don't think you could see Bruny Island like this if you did it on your own. The drive to the lighthouse was long and bumpy. It was nice to see but not the highlight of the trip. But oh, the chocolates! I think I could live there.

“Fantasic foodie day trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2014

I took a Bruny Island Safaris trip in March 2014 as I only had three days in Tasmania and wanted to make the most of my time. Bruny Island Safaris, run by Craig, is a great day tour with lots of food tasting. Any day that starts at a local chocolate factory gets an A+ in my book. Try the salted caramel, peanut butter bar; it's sublime. On Bruny Island, we stopped at the cheese factory, the Hothouse cafe, Bruny Hotel, Get Shucked, and the Smokehouse. The trip also included a trip to the Cape Bruny Lighthouse, which has some great views. If you are looking for a local guide and a small group, Bruny Island Safaris is for you!
