Owner description: MEET THE FOOD PRODUCERS, hear the stories and explore the many corners of Bruny Island. Bruny Island day tours, Bruny Island Lighthouse tours, Bruny Island Food tours, Bruny Island Sightseeing Tours and Bruny Island Overnight Tours. The only tour in Tasmania offering Lighthouse access in the South Bruny National Park. Eat your way around Bruny Island on a gourmet and sightseeing tour departing Hobart. Visit scenic lookouts overlooking Adventure Bay and Cape Bruny, and spot echidnas, white wallabies, birdlife and other wildlife. You'll taste the gourmet treats Bruny Island is famous for, from artisan cheeses and locally grown berries to smoked salmon, chocolates, nougat, fudge, cider and whisky on extended tours (small tasting fees may apply). With pick up and drop-off from your hotel included, along with the round-trip ferry and National Park entry, this is the ultimate way to experience Bruny Island's wild beauty and wickedly delicious gourmet food. Your tour begins with pickup from your Hobart hotel and a scenic drive to the pretty coastal town of Kettering, where your Bruny Island ferry departs. Enjoy the 15-minute cruise over to Bruny Island, then travel by air-conditioned minivan to the narrow neck of land connecting the north and south parts of the island, passing oyster farms and grazing properties en route. Your island tour begins with a private cheese tasting at Bruny Island Cheese Company. After this enjoy views from Adventure Bay lookout and the Hummock lookout, a significant indigenous site that's home to Truganini Memorial. Continue to Adventure Bay and stop for morning tea at the Bruny Island Berry Farm (Seasonal). Locally grown berry fruits are available in all kinds of ways here, including ice cream, pancakes, scones with jam and cream, strawberry and chocolate fondue, and berry cakes. Your tour continues along the Mount Mangana Trail, passing Cloudy Bay on the way to Cape Bruny Lighthouse. The Iconic Bruny Island Lighthouse is Australia's last vantage point to spot migrating humpback and southern right whales, and an important navigational landmark for ships at sea, and the oldest manned lighthouse in Australia. You will enjoy a group tour of the lighthouse and learn all about how it was built, climb the spiral staircase and see the original working prisms, before stepping out onto the balcony for the amazing coastal views elevated 114m above the sea. Feeling hungry by now, stop at Hotel Bruny for a wonderful lunch featuring local Tasmanian and island produce, including locally caught fish, and Tasmanian beef and lamb. The afternoon is all about nature and more food, with stops at Get Shucked super fresh oysters (Oyster tasting) and Bruny Island House of Whisky. Walk off your indulgent lunch and tastings on a short stroll along the beach and through Bruny Island's pristine rainforests keeping an eye out for echidnas, white wallabies, wildflowers and the island's unique birdlife. Later in the afternoon enjoy the round-trip ferry to Kettering, we drop into a gourmet ice-cream producer and stop off for a chocolate-making presentation and tasting at Nutpatch Nougat Chocolates before returning to Hobart, exclusive to Bruny Island Safaris (Not always available). Try our overnight and private Bruny Island tours and enjoy some Bruny Island short walks, maybe some jetty fishing and wind down at your cabin with a glass of local wine and cook up your catch. A proportion of our proceeds are donated to Wildcare for the upkeep of Light Stations around Tasmania, for the care and maintenance of the lighthouse stations and surrounding environment volunteer programs and groups operating on islands containing lighthouses and other lighthouse stations around Tasmania. It wasn't just the unexpectedly beautiful weather that made this such a great day. Bruny Island is beautiful in its own right and this tour was a great way to see a lot of the island, from the Berry Farm and Cheese Factory to the lighthouse, the smokehouse and oyster shucking. Our guide, Aaron, was impressive - he had great knowledge of the area and of Tasmania in General and made everyone in our group of nine feel very welcome.
We were rushed a few times due to circumstances beyond his control (the ferry waits for no bus, and sometimes berry pancakes take longer to cook than you might imagine... But they're yummy!) but we still fitted in almost everything. In fact, some of our group got to take a 10 minute helicopter flight from the Bruny Hotel (after yummy crumbed scallops; lunch is included in the cost and orders phoned in ahead) - just random chance that one was there and keen to take some groups up for a small fee (this is NOT part of normal tours!) We even saw a white wallaby, despite the sunny nature of the day. We were one of two groups out with Safari Tours, as it was peak season, and we did have to wait a while on the way home for the other group to buy their chocolates at the Nutpatch chocolates at Kettering. However, all was forgiven when we met the chocolatier, Giovanni, who explained the art and science of chocolate-making and gave us one of his crème brûlée chocolates. He was really engaging, and the chocolates and nougat are of international quality. Booking the tour was easy, as was checking details over the phone, we could not have seen and done everything had we travelled on our own; so glad we chose this tour!

A wonderful tour with a wonderful and passionate host! Scotty, thank you for making this a relaxing yet beautiful experience! The island is beautiful and the food stops along the way are great aswell!! The scones at the Hot House Cafe!... To die for! Delish! The tour and history info is great too & Scotty is a great guide! Friendly and in small groups is best! I think we spotted one white Wallaby so that was a bonus highlight for me! Otherwise and overall a good food tour of a beautiful landscape!

We booked the full day safari and were really impressed. Our guide Aaron picked us up spot on time and from then (7:40am till 6:30pm) made the group feel right at home. His local knowledge plus ability to answer off the cuff questions on a myriad of topics was astounding. There was another bus on the same tour but they anticipated when to change a drop off or viewing/tasting so as not to swamp a place with tourists. The time at each stop was well paced and interesting with no pressure to ever buy after a tasting though with the quality of all the products that is not a problem. I feel confident we hit the high spots and would know where to return for a longer stay on Bruny. Local operator with the personal touch ensures a great day out.

Without a doubt, this was one of the MOST enjoyable tours. Much praise goes to Scotty, who with his in-depth knowledge, humour, and easy going nature, made our time exploring this beautiful part of Tasmania an incredible experience.

Everything from the pick-up to drop-off was well thought out. My best friend and I felt taken care of during the day, and nothing was too great of a request. Little details weren’t overlooked such as the water bottles and taking orders for morning tea in advance to avoid waiting.

It was a brilliant day; the oysters at Get Shucked, the cheese tastings, and the chocolate at Nutpatch - oh sweet Lord, the dopamine-inducing, highly addictive, best quality I’ve ever tasted and pardon my next expression but sheer mouth-orgasmic chocolate – just fabulous.

I am happy to be Bruny Island Safaris’ unofficial Lifetime Ambassador. You guys do a great job. Thank you wholeheartedly. Yours truly, Meg 

What can I say? Our guides were both highly knowledgable, super friendly, and kept the day filled with laughter and various experiences. Visiting different fresh food places produced by the island provided various treats for our tastebuds. Lots of history was explained while exploring various views. Perfect way to end a great day was at a little chocolate shop that we are still raving about to anyone that will listen back home. Highly recommended tour for a great day out.
