It wasn't just the unexpectedly beautiful weather that made this such a great day. Bruny Island is beautiful in its own right and this tour was a great way to see a lot of the island, from the Berry Farm and Cheese Factory to the lighthouse, the smokehouse and oyster shucking. Our guide, Aaron, was impressive - he had great knowledge of the area and of Tasmania in General and made everyone in our group of nine feel very welcome.
We were rushed a few times due to circumstances beyond his control (the ferry waits for no bus, and sometimes berry pancakes take longer to cook than you might imagine... But they're yummy!) but we still fitted in almost everything. In fact, some of our group got to take a 10 minute helicopter flight from the Bruny Hotel (after yummy crumbed scallops; lunch is included in the cost and orders phoned in ahead) - just random chance that one was there and keen to take some groups up for a small fee (this is NOT part of normal tours!) We even saw a white wallaby, despite the sunny nature of the day. We were one of two groups out with Safari Tours, as it was peak season, and we did have to wait a while on the way home for the other group to buy their chocolates at the Nutpatch chocolates at Kettering. However, all was forgiven when we met the chocolatier, Giovanni, who explained the art and science of chocolate-making and gave us one of his crème brûlée chocolates. He was really engaging, and the chocolates and nougat are of international quality. Booking the tour was easy, as was checking details over the phone, we could not have seen and done everything had we travelled on our own; so glad we chose this tour!
