Owner description: Every Sunday, come rain hail or shine, a busy street in the heart of Hobart transforms into a bustling farmers' market. It's all about Tasmanian produce and getting to know your farmer, and it always has been.

Lots of great fresh produce in abundance. Much more enticing than Salamanca markets, mostly locals buying delicious food to take home. Worth visiting, especially if you are staying for a few days and can eat what you buy. Sadly we had breakfast before visiting because the seafood paella stall looked really good. Next time we wont eat before going! Everything looked delicous!

Since moving back to Hobart a couple of months ago, I've been to the Farm Gate Market pretty much every weekend. Plenty of fresh produce to choose from, which varies from week to week, and includes a wide range of fruit and veg, nuts, jams and spreads, meat and seafood, wines, ciders, cheeses, cakes, coffees, pet foods, plants, the list goes on, as well as quite a few breakfast/lunch options and seating on site to chill out with whatever takes your fancy. All the stall holders are more than happy to talk to you about their produce, and a weekly email can be sent out to regulars so you know ahead of time what is in season and available that week. Some weeks see special events such as cider tasting or arts and crafts projects for kids etc. Great local market with a relaxing, authentic atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to locals and visitors.

Was walking aimlessly AROUND TOWN when I came across Farm Gate market. The produce are mainly vegetables, fruits, honey, dairy (milk, yogurt, cheese), potted plants and something for our pets!

I like the atmosphere, the authentic feel of a local community- street musician, people chatting, barista calling, farmers promoting organic produce…just a lively scene! Most tourist does not come here, maybe it’s not widely known.

The longest Q is evident at the burger stall, wallabies meat!

I had fun trying various honey and gourmet cheese.

Wonderful Farmers Market to pick up your fresh food needs and also lots of speciality foods, too. We bought fabulous sushi, honey with ginger, horseradish and wasabi mustard and a gluten free chocolate slice. All beautiful! Easy parking and a lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend it!

A very diverse market with an amazing variety of very fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses, wines ciders, confectionery, gourmet takeaway food stalls, breads, pastries etc.
Very friendly people running the stalls, who have some great advice about their products.
