Our room was very spacious with a brick wall on one side and a view of the harbor from the other. Beautiful remodel of an industrial space for this historic hotel. The bathroom was a little funky with open space in the shower rather than enclosed. It was quite large and on cold days the bathroom was a little cold which is the only non-positive thing I can say about the hotel. They even had bikes you could use for free. Staff was awesome. Location was primo.

Room Tip: They had bikes you could take out for free when we were there.

One of the nicest hotels we have stayed anywhere. The room was fantastic with the exposed factory walls, wooden beams and tin roof. Very nice bathroom. Excellent location on the water - 10 minute walk to Salamanca. We had daily breakfast in the courtyard which was very nice. Did not eat dinner there but the dining room and menu look very nice. Above all - the service was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed the boutique feel of the hotel and the location. The staff were friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions and bookings which were great. The room we had was nicely appointed, very large and had a lovely bathroom. The rooms and bathroom was very clean and spacious. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay here again. Thanks for a great weekend.

Room Tip: We had room 220 which we loved!

Rooms are great. Staff are great. But as newly married couple wanting to spend time in the lovely room together we're starving because the room service options are terrible. There's nothing nearby we can go too to bring food up to the room for a late lunch. Such a nice room, would love to spend time here but the only option would be to get a pizza delivered.
Pretty disappointed.
But again, staff are great and the room is amazing.

I recently stayed at the Henry Jones hotel for what was supposed to be a business trip. the hotel is incredibly charming and very creative. the staff was amazing and the location could not have been better. They of course have room to grow i..e wine cellar, wine tastings, etc. but all in all it was a fantastic experience

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the harbor what a way to wake up in the morning!

My stay here prompted me to Google the defined standards of a Five star Hotel. This had most of them but not all. What is not defined in the Star rating is the Hotel ambience, sense of comfort and Luxury, and most importantly value for money.
Many people like to spoil themselves especially whilst traveling and on holidays. So spending a bit more money on fine accommodation is not uncommon, but it has to deliver value.
The HJA is a refurbished jam factory. The hotel is at the Docks area of Hobart, a great locale, but for the fact that part of the area is Industrial and a bit grubby and noisy. The building itself has been cleverly converted into a hotel with much of the old factory architecture exposed throughout the halls and rooms. HOWEVER there is still an unacceptable failure to remove dust and debris in open areas and in rooms.
The suite, Oriental, we were in was large but the furnishings were not comfortable. The overflow bath awkwardly placed. The main bathroom is very poorly designed, low ceiling with mould, poor ventilation, low sink, shower heads required me to run around under the stream to get even vaguely wet. Transparent walls let light into the bedroom if bathroom used at night. Towels small and average.
Service was good at reception, no turn down service. Room service was on a tray with no place to really eat in the Suite.
Breakfast was included but if you wanted a proper coffee extra charges were levied. The breakfast itself was very ordinary, with a poor selection of average foods, very disappointing for Tasmania has a great and deserved reputation for good food.
In summary, a very average experience for a premium price, which leaves one feeling cheated. It would be a nice hotel if it were dusted, improve breakfast and charge half the price and admit that it's not Five Star.

Room Tip: None at the advertised price.

My Mum and I shared a twin room for 2 nights for a visit from interstate. The place is beautifully designed - as you'd expect from the name. I wouldn't call it cosy - but definitely modern and stylish. Not sure how comfy it would be in winter. Fabulous location by the water which I'd definitely recommend over being in the city or further away if you don't have a car (like us).

Niggling issues with the room: terrible soundproofing. We were both trying to sleep around 9pm and could hear every single word of a phone conversation a woman was having in the room next door (and she wasn't yelling!).
Bathroom - the little table next to the sink is a stupid design. It looks cool but you can't rest anything on it as it's slats of wood. Bathroom door wouldn't close properly - a bit awkward if you're not a couple. My Mum was infuriated by how bad the lighting is in the room - with the room lights on and her bedside light she still found it too dark to be able to read properly.

Good stuff: staff are absolutely outstanding - 100% perfect.
Bar looked really nice but we didn't try it.
I used the little gym - great.
Breakfast / cafe place: OK but I would have liked somewhere with a slightly better range of choices.

It's very expensive, I think, for what you get. If I go back to Tasmania I wouldn't choose to stay there again.

Room Tip: A water view would have been nice but the rooms are already very expensive (and none were available...
