“Rough around the edges but clean & convenient”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

Looks a little worse for wear and doesn't have any of the pretty trappings of a boutique hotel but was CLEAN and very convenient for touring around Hobart CBD. Restaurants nearby as well. Operated by a lovely woman who was genial and tries to be accommodating. Big drawback: no elevator. However, had coffee, milk, toilet paper, lamp, working TV, lots of towels and mini fridge. Could do with a paint job.

This hotel has to be the worst hotel in Hobart .
The rooms are so small, with terrible tired old tiles on the floors ,no carpets,no lift,no parking,no house keeping, dirty bathroom with squeaky door, unsafe electric connections and to top off a bad experience, Black and gold cereal brand breakfast.

If you're after a luxury tourist experience Harringtons aint it! But I really liked this place. Its quite low cost and located close the to the city centre. The rooms are rather quirky. We had one facing the street. It had great very high and wide windows all along the frontage facing that direction and one small windows even opened. (now that's a must in my world!). The room we were in was very large and quite a strange design. There was an interior wall close to the door that went about 70% of the way to the ceiling and curled around the main bed. the rest of the room curled around this wall creating quite an interesting effect - a sort of room within a room. I liked it a lot.

The owners seemed very nice and welcoming and there was a complementary modest breakfast every morning. And there as free wifi

Strongly recommended to those not looking for a bland hotel experience

It needs an upgrade. A refurbishment.

It was missing a lot?
Tiny room, very lacking in everything .... Minimalist says it all really. No windows no coffee no toilet paper no milk no lift no table no lamps poor lighting broken TV... Should we go on?

The message is clear:
If you need somewhere cheap and have no expectations, stay here.

Downtown and easy walk to everything. Neat and tidy. Good value. great place if you like to get out and see the sights and not sit around. Very close to the transport hub. Easy to return to at night. Small and friendly.

We chose the hotel due to close proximity to hire cars...this I give 10 out of 10 ...the breakfast was good but then it all goes downhill.
No bedside cabinets
No bedside lamps
No tissues
No elevator
No safe access in front of and on the side of bed
Unsafe wires hanging from the wall
Very noisy - no carpet in hall just echoing

Room Tip: Don't stay here

Have stayed here once before a number of years ago and both times in a compact room. The room consists of one kingsize bed, a desk/shelf, a wardrobe, a fridge, kettle, bedside table, heat pump A/C, bathroom marble, big vanity unit, small shower and toilet. Coffee/tea supplied, soap toiletries supplied, 3 toilet rolls face washer bath mat and towels.Lighting in room not brillant, bed bigger than expected comfortable and warm, breakfast toast, juice and cereals are supplied but did not go downstairs as was not hungry. The room was clean and tidy no windows only glass bricks with blind to shut out light. Noise from other rooms was audible especially in the morning but I had to say it was extremely quiet of a night. We scored free parking right out front, owner was very helpful on checkin. Man who was there sat night had curry cooking which smelt beautiful when you used to live in an apartment block of indian students you get used to that smell. Other reviews saying they wouldnt leave their dogs here are over the top with their comments it is a good place to stay centrally located, cheap $79 per night have certainly stayed in a lot worse thats for sure.

Room Tip: Had room 102 at the back of building above kitchen
