We spend four days in the Gardeners Cottage, on of the three that annex the main house and we have to say that if charm, character and independence are ones criteria, this is it. Considerable thought went into the restoration of this cottage and this, coupled with the attention to ensure our stay was comfortable was greatly appreciated and the result was enjoyable and memorable. The woodburner (with adequate fuel and kindling) completes the ambience and the kitchen is properly equipped allowing one to easily cater for oneself without having to request additions. The surrounding gardens are a delight and the town and botanical gardens within walking distance.

I visit Hobart for work every 6 weeks and normally stay in one of the large waterfront hotels. On one of my previous visits to Hobart I was recommended Corinda and I must say it was such a great place to stay. I received a warm and genuine welcome by the owner. Everything about the beautiful little cottage was perfect; warm, comfortable, convenient to the CBD. The only thing missing was someone to share it with, next time I stay at Corinda I will bring my husband. I have decided that from now on I will avoid the big hotels and stay at different little cottage style accommodation and dine in the restaurants away from the usual tourist strip like my new favourite restaurant; the Boat House at Cornelian Bay.

The Gardeners Cottage within the oasis at Corindas is a little piece of heaven. It reminded me of The Gingerbread House upon arrival, the colourful wood and gorgeous gardens made it a very warm welcome... then we went inside. This cottage is restored beautifully, the attention to detail is amazing, you may think there isnt a tv, a washer, drier, even towels and I found that part of the joy during my first hour there was noseying around the house finding all of the thoughtful extras the Corindas team had had designed in and those luxury grocery touches they kindly provided. The open plan one up one down is very romantic, be warned, its a slushy sentimental assault on the senses from the moment you arrive. The firewood is topped up to keep you cosy beside the log burning fire... its serious stuff....we got engaged. So if you fancy a diamond or just getting lurved up, this is the place. The bathroom was a favorite, this is one gorgeous clever room, the old and new are cleverly integrated with a traditional loo - (which does make a little noise when re-filling, I read one review where this was a complaint, if you use it all day and all night I would imagine you would notice it more, some people are full of...) the shower is the best I have had the pleasure of, a big streaming jet of always hot water standing in a very large tub (fits two easily with champers and a bowl of strawberries, trust me) get the jets on in the spa tub and you'll never want to get out. Each room contains lovely antique furniture, ladies when you get ready to go out use your brain, The Cottage is clever, there's no mirror on the dressing table, its behind you in the wardrobe door, and everything is thought of. We found the very large bed very comfortable and the views stunning, fresh flowers in vases throughout out stay welcomed us after a long day of fun, if you like being made a fuss of and getting enchanting surprises and kind notes this is the perfect Hobart stay for you. You get what you pay for some say, we felt we got so much more and I can't wait to visit again. A 10 minute stroll to the centre makes Hobart accessible, 20 minutes strolling to Salamanca. The team visit daily to remove rubbish and address any queries you may have... we never saw anyone though until the end when our hosts came to say goodbye... you can be assured of privacy, you'll need it, its a den of amour.

Staying at Corinda has been a wonderful experience. Our stay was in the Servants Quarters. The historical detail was so exact and the detail made it so interesting. The cottage was extremely well appointed with little extras such as extra towels, tea, coffee, fruit and selection of breakfast items. The hosts made every effort to make sure we were settled and had everything we needed . Set amongst beautiful gardens makes Corinda a special place to stay if you like comfort , peace and tranquility and a taste of history. The cottage had a wood fire ready to be lit and there was plenty of wood to keep the fire going while we sat by candlelight and enjoyed the atmosphere of the cottage. The upstairs has a beautifully decorated sitting room and bedroom. If you like busy hotels this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a quiet retreat that is comfortable welcoming and has everything you need and within in easy walking distance the centre of Hobart , then a Corinda cottage is ideal. Thank you to our hosts for a most enjoyable stay.

My wife and I had the opportunity to stay for four nights in the Coach house during a recent conference in Hobart. The cottage was beautifully appointed with period pieces and obvious attention to detail. It is very private and the owners never made their presence felt but were always able to assist when required, The provisions for breakfasts were most welcome and included Milo and a variety of Twinings teabags. The small kitchen area was very good with microwave (cleverly hidden away), oven, and stove with a range of condiments also provided, including good olive oil. There was even laundry facilities also well hidden away behind a timber screen door, The fireside hearth was a lovely place to sit on a windy, chilly Hobart evening. :Upstairs the sitting area and bedroom were also beautifully appointed and it was all most welcoming. . All in all this is a great place to be self-catering and enjoy a stay in Hobart It is only a 10 minute walk downhill though a park to get to the CBD (so okay uphill to get home again!). Don't stay here if you want bustling hotel foyers, intrusive room service and buffet breakfasts in huge auditoriums. The Coach house and Corindas cottages gardens were quiet, relaxed and very much a slice of 'old Hobart'.

Room Tip: Garden Cottage, as name suggests, is the only cottage actually in a garden setting. The other two co...

We had heard about this place from friends who really loved their stay here, so had high expectations. Unfortunately the Gardeners cottage did not live up to the hype. But perhaps that is just because it might not have been our 'style'.
The gardeners cottage is separate from the other accommodation, and not actually original, but built from reclaimed wood. It's quite rustic, and decorated as such. Though quite comfortable, there were a few issues. Like the TV. Perhaps Hobart is just expensive, but for over $250 per night, having a digital TV would be expected. Not here. The poor old tv could hardly pick up the main stations without static. And we couldn't access the wireless internet (which you have to pay for. again, should be included in the price!) unless we were sitting outside. (admittedly, when we informed the owners of this, they knew there was a problem, said that they were going to install a fixed line for the cottage, and didn't charge us). And the bed was a little saggy in the middle, so neither of us got a very good nights sleep.
The lady who showed us to the cottage was a bit rude/abrupt. Not sure who she was. Maybe the cleaner? The owners were quite polite and friendly though.
And the toilet! Though keeping to the period, it was so loud!

Now to the good things. The shower and spa were amazing. such a wonderful place to sit and relax. The towels smelt like strawberries.
Having a fully functioning kitchen was excellent, and there was enough food to last us our four mornings stay (just by buying a new milk). We loved that there wasn't just tea or coffee on offer (for us hot chocolate/milo drinkers). It was really very quite at night, even though it was just one street away from the major road coming into Hobart. The area is so beautiful, and quite close to the city. The restaurant area of North Hobart was about a 10 minute walk away.
The gardens were beautiful to sit in, and the gardeners cottage had it's own little driveway.

I did wonder if it was even worth writing a review, as the other entries are so positive. But I thought it was worth it, just to confirm what others say. We had two nights in the Coach House in March 2012, and were charmed. The owners have done such a fantastic job in turning these period cottages into self catering accommodation. The furnishings are mainly antiques, yet the cottages are so comfortable. It was really like going back 50 or 60 years, yet with all the modern comforts.

The gardens are wonderful as well, with a lovely lawn and formal flowerbeds. The location is also surprisingly good, considering these are cottages – just 10 minutes walk to the waterfront.

Hobart is a really great city as well – we were so impressed by the mix of old buildings, the lovely waterfront, and the laidback café atmosphere.

Basically – if you are visiting Hobart and want self-catering accommodation, or just a lovely, charming place to stay, then look no further – assuming you can get in!
