We stayed in this lovely apartment of the fourth floor for 7 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Run by Lenna's Hotel, we found reception and housekeeping to be top class. The rather firm mattress we softened by using the quilt under us. The apartment had plenty of space with a full kitchen and well appointed bathroom. With a balcony and four opening windows, we had plenty of ventilation. On Salamanca PLace, we were just around the corner from restaurants, galleries and a small supermarket. A 10 minute walk saw us at the Hobart dock area. The rooms have high speed internet available for a fee, however near reception is a computer and printer with free internet for guests to use. http://www.salamancaterraces.com.au/

Overall the one bedroom apartment had an average amount of space and was reasonably clean. Housekeeping will make up rooms/change linen each day if required. Location is excellent, very close to Salamanca Place with all its restaurants and shops. The downside of this is the noise from the street - like other reviewers I too heard the bottles at 4am followed by a street sweeper truck which sounded like a Boeing 747 outside the window at 5am. Not the most relaxing start to the day!

I also found the bed to be very hard, probably not much different from sleeping on the floor. I would not recommend Salamanca Terraces to other travellers until the reviews indicate that new, more comfortable beds have been installed.

My apartment was spacious, the carpet had been renewed and the location was great for nightlife and the weekend market. That was he good news.

Bottles were collected at 4:00 am (or maybe that's when restaurants put them out), party noise continued through the night or at least until the street cleaning crew arrived at 5:00am and nearby building works started early.

The apartment furnishings were old and uncomfortable, service staff missed obvious things and there was no desk or working space other than the dining table.

Good location, but found the "studio apartment" was more correctly is a "motel room with a microwave and sink". Very small. No air condtioning, and the blurb says that windows open so that "guests can experience the fresh Tasmanian air" - OK< but we actually experienced street noise, petrol and diesel fumes!

We looked at a one bedroom apartment while the cleaners were there, and it was much nicer, so perhaps don't stay in a studio unless you know what to expect. And a room at Lennna of Hobart is probably a better choice for the same money.

No issues with housekeeping, they were efficient and friendly; except that the window sills were very grubby with dirty fuel residuals.

Room Tip: Studio not reccommended.

Fantastic spot as so close to Salamanca Market and great restaurants. The 2 bedroom apartment was spacious and had everything a family of 4 needed. The negatives were that external noises and a very hard bed made it hard to sleep and the rooms could have been a bit cleaner - dirty marks on light switches and around door handles.

We stayed three nights in The Salamanca Apartments while visiting Hobart from interstate, in a 2 bedroom Apartment with our baby and 3yo.
THE LOCATION – great location: The Apartments is an understated building with no reception area as it is run out of the historic Lenna of Hobart across the road. The building is neat, clean and tidy, and very well located on the corner of Salamanca Place. This Battery Point/Salamanca location is great...our room (#304) had glimpses of the harbour (but mainly just overlooked adjacent buildings), and is less than 150m to the Salamanca Market location, and just steps to the countless restaurants of the Salamanca area. A convenience store is located about 150m down Salamanca Place, which is handy for food, drinks etc, especially when staying in a self-catering apartment. Takeaway options include Vietnamese, pizza/pasta, indian and more. (Tip: we asked the upmarket Rockwall restaurant just a short walk down Salamanca Place if they would do takeaway for us, so that we could enjoy a yummier dinner without the hassle of taking out the children, and they were extremely obliging (and great food)).
THE APARTMENT – big and roomy but very 1990’s: the 2-bedroom apartment we stayed in was two story, with two incredibly large bedrooms upstairs. The main bedroom featured a Queen sized bed, TV and small balcony (too small to be of any value other than to let the fresh air in). The main bedroom was so large it could easily have fit 2-3 rollout beds into it if need be, in addition to the Queen bed. The second bedroom had two single beds and again, had heaps of extra floor space for additional roll-outs. The apartment came with three roll-out beds hidden away in the wardrobes for easy access if required. Also upstairs was a laundry (see comment below), and one bathroom. The main downside of the apartment was that it did only have the one bathroom (no ensuite), which would be a negative for larger families. For travellers with younger children, the internal stair-case is carpeted with a handrail, both good features for children; and the bathroom has a combined shower-bath. Reception mentioned a gate was available for the top of the stairs if needed, which we didn’t.
Downstairs, was a second toilet, under-stair storage cupboard ideal for strollers etc, fully equipped kitchen (including mini-bar products in the fridge and a microwave, toaster and dishwasher), and open plan dining and lounge area. The décor was very 1990’s, but neat and tidy.

CLEANLINESS – at first glance, everything appeared very neat and tidy but upon further inspection I was a little disappointed with the cleanliness of the room, with several hairs on the floor of the bathroom (clearly had therefore not been mopped or vacuumed) and the grout in need of a good scrub with a toothbrush, plus crumbs in all of the kitchen drawers. The crockery went straight into the dishwasher before we used it, as it appeared of dubious cleanliness. The room was missing tea towels and had a broken lock on the entry door, both of which staff were quick and amiable in addressing when bought to their attention.
BED – horrible: the main bed was one of the most UNcomfortable I have ever slept on in my life. Not only was it too soft and squishy, but the electric blanket under the fitted sheet had tightly spaced, extremely prominent ridges along the entire surface which I could feel digging into my body all night long! Under the electric blanket, the mattress was covered in plastic and (despite not using the electric blanket) my husband and I felt an unpleasant ‘sweaty’ sensation as a result, much like sleeping in a hospital bed (yuck). My sleep quality was so poor I would think twice before choosing to stay here again, simply for this reason – which is a shame as the location and size are great.
LAUNDRY – just a note on this: the laundry features a combined front-loader washer & dryer, which we thought was fantastic until we realised the dryer was a ‘steam’ dryer and all our clothes came out damp, so don’t do as we did and put on a load before bedtime expecting nice dry clothes in the morning, as you’ll be disappointed! An airer is provided to hang the clothes on to let them air-dry). No laundry powder was provided.
Heating - rooms were nice and warm despite the cold weather outside, and the wall-mounted heating units could be adjusted or turned on/off.
Service & Staff - reception staff over at The Lenna (where we also spent two nights – see my review if interested) were lovely and friendly. Any interaction with staff at the apartments themselves was also fine, and we generally found all people in Hobart to be notably lovely and friendly.
