Stayed two times and the second time I was upgraded to a King room. It was a lot bigger then the standard room which was rather small. It had a lot more room, comfortable bed, big bathroom, work desk and fast wireless connection. A lot of Restaurants in the area and Coles just over the road. Free parking and guest laundry was helpful but the car park was hard to find.

Room Tip: go for the King room over the standard

i read a few reviews about this motel so had mixed feelings before we arrived, carpark was a bit dark and dingy,,so that didn't start to well, receptionist was most helpful and friendly, headed off to a king superior room which was very njce and spacious, only problem the bed wasn't a king bed but 2 king singles pushed together ,which made it a bit painful..the mafair plaza is a great location..overall we enjoyed our 2 night stay and will certainly be back

This our first trip to hobart and we were recommended by other friends to stay here. The first impression was BIG. We booked a superior queens room which is super spacious with 2 queen sized bed. The room was clean and surprisingly the toilet was also BIG n CLEAN, that's a huge tick for me. Service was good, towels are cleaned as requested and the bar was refilled everyday. The only negative is the toilet door is not lock-able! i dont know why but it juz appear to have no lock. Also the noise when there's someone walk by as it is located in a plaza but it is very minor. If the room is redesigned into a more modern style, It can be called a hotel instead.

Room Tip: Request for rooms on the 1st level as fewer people walk around.

This was out first trip to Hobart, and we were lucky to pick this motel.Liz the reptionist was very organised and helpful, whatever questions I put to her, and there were a few. The room(number20), was excellent, it had been recently refubished, and was in first class order. The bathroom was spacious, although I'm not a lover of 'wet rooms'.
The facilities were up to a good standard, and the location , was very central for shops, eating out, and parking was on site, a bonus in a busy place as Hobart. We certainly will be going back to this motel.

Room Tip: Check the room is not internal, in the courtyard, unless you like your rooms with subdued light.The...

We had 2 rooms here. The set-up is slightly odd as it's in a shopping centre. We were only there in the evening, so it was quiet. My mother had room 1, which was on the ground floor and absolutely massive. We were on the top floor with a small window. As it transpired, having a small window was an advantage as my mother said she couldn't sleep as it was too light with all the shopping centre lights streaming through her huge window. Perhaps thicker curtains would be an idea.

Given all the negative reviews, we were actually pleasantly surprised as the rooms were very large and well appointed - perfectly adequate for a brief stay in Hobart.

We were also close to a good variety of restaurants, but thought Hobart centre was a bit far to walk.

Room Tip: Get a room with a small window if you are light sensitive.

Decent stay. Big room. Only negative is the noise of people walking past room. Its part of a public plaza. Walking distance to Salamanca markets (15-20min walk).

Hobart is over-priced at the best of times but when there is cricket test match, the prices are exorbitant for what you get. The fact that this place is called a "motel" should have alerted me to what was on offer. This is a collection of rooms within a small shopping centre in Sandy Bay Road. People going shopping can walk straight up to your room door. The first room I was showed to - a queen room - was dark, dank and soulless. It had no external window and the door of the room was straight off the passageway of a small shopping centre with canvas-covered walkways. I wanted to leave immediately but I had no choice as the room was prepaid for 3 nights and I would lose all my money. I therefore asked for a room with natural light and a helpful manager offered me a king room overlooking the road for $10 more (total price of $169 per night). I gladly took it because the prospect of having a dark dank room for 3 days was too depressing. Although there was a faint smell of urine in the new room, this room was bright. The carpet was thin and in some places damp, the furniture was cheap and tired and the bedding included two well-worn synthetic blankets. However after two days, I could not stand it any longer so I cut my trip short and left.

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor rooms. Ask for a 1st floor room with a window which looks onto the road.
