The State started out life as a dreary old movie theatre that had moved forward to the 1950's, then stalled. Then in the 1980's, closure was foreshadowed and Hobart would be without an independent movie theatre. The present owner purchased the run down dinosaur, moved heaven and earth and the local Council, to create a complex of modern theatres and a restaurant and wine bar The theatres show both main stream and art house and.foreign movies. The complex is popular, and so it should be, reflecting the vision of the owner. Every month there seems to be a new cinema or feature added, the last is the book shop. If you are in Hobart, don't miss it.
