Great food and people... The range of food is great and the chicken rice is just like you get in Singapore or Malaysia.

We have introduced many family and friends to this restaurant and all agree that the "Island Market Sawak Cafe" is one of Hobarts worst kept secrets as it is getting busier and busier but isnt losing its friendly service nor the quality of its authentic freshly cooked meals.. They prepare to order a variety of "laksa" type soups which are really great and may be ordered in various degrees of spiciness. They other meals are of the "nasi goreng" variety and most are served with a fried egg on top and come either on rice or noodles. While the menu is fairly limited the $7.50
price tag for all dishes is unbeatable for authentic, fresh home cooked to order asian cuisine. This is venue for genuine foodies who are not influenced by decor furniture or soft lighting. This is street food but without the traffic.A truly wonderful experience ! ONE that has become a weekend regular as they are only open until 3pm on friday saturday and sunday. I am a biggish boy and have never felt hungry after eating at this restaurant.and what a bonus not having to feed a parking meter !!

Open late (9:30pm - so, late for Hobart), and reasonably cheap eats in a nice area. Not the nicest place itself, but it's good asian food.
