Loved the Moorilla Pinot noir for a long time. Nice to sit looking back towards a snow covered Mt Wellington, sipping beautiful wines with very helpful and knowledgeable wines.

This was our second visit to MONA, so with insider knowledge, a glass of red at the wine bar was on our list. The wine bar is separate to the restaurant. We ordered a couple of bottles of cabernet merlot to take with us for dinner with friends that night. A pretty price and a very nice drop. The bar is strategically situated with thought to aspect and its place in the overall feel of the complex. From here you can see over the museum and onto the Bay. On the other side you can see over the picnic and performance area. This all creates a sense that all elements of this complex are vital to its integrity. There is nothing that gives you a sense that it is an afterthought. Although this part of the complex is all glass, chrome and wood, it has an organic feel to it, the design flows. So here we were in a wine bar that could be nowhere else, drinking a locally grown glass of wine that tasted its best right here in this spot. The challenge was going to be, would it taste so well when we got back home? Are these experiences portable?

I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. We had 8 courses with matching wines and every course was a delight, the wines selected complimented the dishes skilfully.
If you get the opportunity visit!

Whether you are there for a quick coffee before you enter the museum, or a long lunch post your visit (or both as we did), it is a lovely place to spend 10 minutes or 3 hours.
Coffee, wine and food all delicious and as a group we sampled just about the entire menu.
Friendly staff, who were all happy to chat & quick with a smile even though they were hectic.
Great atmosphere & it captures the afternoon sun, so a cosy spot indoors may keep you there for too long!

Best building; chic, classy and of international quality. The whole place has a great edge. We sat and listened to jazz sipping our drinks. Could have been in NYC-its that good
