We shared plates of charcuterie and anti pasto. It is casual with good wine by the glass. Perfect for regaining energy after hours in the gallery.

“Do the winery tour as well”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

When visiting MONA it is worth taking a little bit extra time to visit the wine bar out the back. And, if you have an hour, do the winery tour from 3.30-5pm. We were shown around by one of the friendly vignerons (Johnny), and his knowledge of not only the on-site Moorilla winery but cool-climate wines throughout Tasmania was outstanding. Several tastings were included in amongst the discussions on making wine as we walked around the stainless steel vats fermenting the wine, then it was off to the wine bar for more generous serves. The Gewurztraminer was amazing and the flight is recommended. I also really liked that the staff were friendly and unpretentious but passionate about wine and not snobby about answering any question no matter how simple it might have been. The tour can be booked online at the MONA website.

“Get the flight!”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

The wine flight and the beer flight at only $12 is definitely the way to go. I would NEVER have tried the Riesling, but it turned out that I adored it, so glad to have discovered a new wine. The wine bar is casual with pastry and coffee, as well as wine and beer. I had the soup of the day which was filling, fresh and very tasty, and also half a dozen oysters, natural, which tasted like they had just been plucked from the ocean. It's a great way to end your day at MONA, digesting the exhibits and looking our over the vineyards.

“Well lifted the spirits”

just when i needed a lift turned a corner and was stunned by the bar it could be in a night club. Make sure you use the toilets before you move on its the 3rd cubicle on the right.

“MONA wine bar - Must do when visiting Tassie”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

After visiting the gallery we decided we would do some wine tastings so walked up the stairs to the wine bar. We were greeted by a very friendly bar person who had extremely good knowledge about the wines we tasted. I loved the gallery but my husband thought 'the art was cr...p' in his words (oh well each to their own!!!!) He needed a beer after that so sampled their 'Moobrew' dark which he loved. He was driving so could only have one so I continued with the wine tastings. Great wines - especially loved the pinot gris and oaked chardonnays. Dont really drink reds but enjoyed the Pinot Noir. I wanted to try the Syrah but was not on the tasting list due to limited production I was told. A suggestion to the owners would be to provide cheese platters at the wine bar. We would've purchased one to have with our wines.
Overall great experience and great person staffing the wine bar. Didnt have to pay for the tastings as we purchased some wine. Its free tastings if you buy - great incentive!!!
