The hotel rooms were clean, spacious, bright, and new looking. The staff was friendly and responsive for most requests. Given, that I spent 5 nights there, I was a little annoyed that they would not let me extend my stay an extra hour (to 12 p.m.) before checking out. Also, the parking garage does not have an elevator so you have to carry tour luggage up a flight of stairs to get to the lobby. These are not big issues, but I would have like to have know about them so I could plan better. All in all, I would stay at this hotel again.

We were so surprised and grateful to have our upgraded executive suite on the Christmas Day, thank you.
The room is big and comfortable for our family, and kids are so happy to see the sweet and chocolate on their bed. Amazing view fro the room, very comfy bed, and nice jet bath, and shower.

We like the heated swimming pool ( a real heated pool- you can really get in in the morning) small but good enough. The receipt ion area are very spacious, and with plenty seats.

Friendly staff, nice cafe, and you can also booking for high tea. We were so happy with the location as we can easily walk to all cafe and shops.

Will be back again.

Room Tip: Corner suite is spacious, sunny, and have a stunning view in the night.

Much like the review below this, I thought it was a great location and a nice hotel. However, even paying high season prices I hate feeling like I'm always paying for something additional. Wifi should definitely have been free at those room rates and what they did want was 4x more expensive for 24 hours than my international roaming data. I also think paying for parking (while only $9) is overpriced considering the cost of the room and it being a city of 250 000.

I have just spent 2 nights here. We had a standard mountain view room which was spacious with a reasonably sized bedroom. Our room was quiet. The hotel is very well located. If you have a hire car there is a car park under the hotel-Aus$9 per day.

The front desk staff were helpful and in particular the head concierge, Colin, who gave us excellent advice about visiting Port Arthur. The bar was open for food all day on Christmas day which is why we chose the hotel as we did not want a formal dinner.

There are coin operated washing machines at the hotel, which was useful.

Given the room rate, I thought internet access should have been included. There was also no safe in the room which was surprising.

I accept we paid a high season rate but overall I thought the hotel was overpriced.

We were in Hobart and decided on a full service hotel. This a very nice hotel with a good front desk staff. Carpets were new and rooms better then average. This is Hobart not a major city,my opinion is you can't go wrong with the Grand Chancellor Hobart Hotel. Another point food was excellent especially breakfast.

Stayed for a conference and back with the family and used as a base to travel around Tasmania. Got great rates, facilities, rooms and service. Staff great, location magic...we used as a base to do south and eastern Tassie. Would definitely come back! So many places to choose from to eat and play.

Room Tip: Make sure you tell them how many people and what ages to get best deal.

It is worth the small premium to secure a 'harbour view room'. The view alone recommends this hotel. The location is prime, on the waterfront and a short walk to Salamanca and the CBD. Rooms are comfortable, but a little tired. There is a bar and a restaurant on site, but no room service. General service levels let this place down. Reception is barely average and concierge is understaffed (on each of three occasions, it took multiple requests to extract my vehicle from valet parking).
