Grand Chancellor Hotel Hobart
Ranked #4 of 47 Hotels in Hobart

We stayed 3 nights at the Grand Chancellor in Hobart during the September school holidays. The hotel is lovely. Our room at the front of the hotel had wonderful views of the harbor (definitely worth the extra money for the view) at night all the boats have lights on and the view is spectacular. The rooms are modern and tasteful. Our room had 2 queen size beds, was spacious and the bathroom was also new and roomy. The shower was awesome and there was plenty of fluffy white towels and nice little extras like moisturizer, shampoo and conditioner. In the wardrobe was an ironing board and iron (not that i go on holidays to iron but it was useful for a crushed shirt).

Despite being a big hotel there was very little noise and we all slept peacefully each night. The location is very central . Walking distance to Salamanca place (for a nice dinner) the ferry terminus to get to MONA and a short walk to the shops just behind the hotel. We had a hire car which cost us $9.00 a night to park in the hotel car park (small car park and one night we struggled to find a spot for the car).

Staff were very friendly and helpful when we arrived helping us with getting our luggage in and what to do with the car etc...

Great place to stay if sightseeing in Hobart and central to if you are booking tours. The only thing i thought was a bit ordinary was the cost of the WI-fi. We paid $12.50 for 2 hours/ 200mb and our teenager used it up in 20 minutes! So that's one way to get the kids off the internet!

Room Tip: ask for a front room to get the best of the view ours was 1120

Stayed at the motel for three nights.Rooms ok ,nothing flash for the price. We stayed in a standard mountain view room, on the tenth floor.not a mountain to be seen only rooftops of buildings, did ring up to complain and was upgraded to the nineteenth floor no charge.Staff very helpful.Lovely view of the harbour on the other side of motel.Would recommend paying more for the view.
Motel in a good spot for around the harbour, a short 10 minute walk to Salamanca .would probably stay in Salamanca area if visiting Hobart again .

Room Tip: Harbour side rooms for the views

Easy check in, helpful staff and clean rooms. I did consider this a little pricey but then again the location is excellent and we were at the back with no view but the rooms were really quiet. Comfy beds. Across the road to the harbour and a quick walk to Salamanca. To be honest, their breakfast was fine but we've had a lot of buffet breakfasts and this was one of the more ordinary. Ours was part of the tariff but I wouldn't have liked to pay the $29 a head. We really enjoyed our stay and have no complaints, just felt it didn't quite live up to the price. Beware, the lifts are exceptionally slow.

Great staff on the desk. The room is fine and the bed and pillows were very comfy. Loved the shower!!! The lifts seemed to be running slow while we were there but did not have any trouble with noise. Parking is $9 / night which is not unreasonable. The location next to Consititution Dock was great. Fish Frenzy is just a short walk away....

Seamless registration, helpful staff, spotless and comfortable room with excellent bedding, great shower and all required facilities. Recommend harbour side with its interesting, changing scenery. Experienced some street noise, compliments of a few late night rev heads, but not sufficiently annoying to detract from overall experience at the Grand. Certainly recommend.

Great location, friendly staff. Rooms nothing special-regular 4.5 deal. Beds comfy and facilities clean. Brought earplugs as others have noted-no sound proofing. Could hear ambulance on 18th floor. Breakfast $28.50 -usual suspects-nothing wild. Service good. If you get a cheap deal or work paying stay here.

We recently spent our honeymoon in this hotel and had a room with harbour views. Everything within walking distance, great many places to have meals and the Salamanca market was a real treat, a country feel about it, many shops to visit for souvenirs and things totally Tassie. Weather was perfect. Staff friendly and helpful with info and making arrangements for sightseeing further afield.Rooms very clean and airy, sleep quality perfect. We would definitely stay here again for our next trip. Absolutely loved it. If you are looking for accomodation with everything plus a location perfect for those special days you will always remember, you cannot go past this hotel.

Room Tip: If you can manage it get a room on the harbour side, day and night views spectacular and breathe tak...
