Nice hotel, centrally located, great value for money with a nice restaurant. Breakfast was great and good value. Bar area good prior to dinner. Great location right on the harbour and just a short walk from either the centre of town or Federation Square.

This is my second stay in under 12 months. The water views are magnificent and being up high ( 9th storey) we felt very private. Staff are friendly and very helpful and knowledgeable. Helped us with ferry times for Mona, allowed a late check out and were not in your face. Breakfast was expansive and I loved the Bircher muesli. Will stay again

It was pleasure staying at this hotel again. The service is really excellent and the location is really perfect to catch ferries to everywhere, visit the shops, restaurants and markets and the wonderful Salamanca area. Hobart is a great destination and we experienced some great adventures, meals and MONA!
The rooms are comfortable and the views overlooking the harbour good. The dinner in the restaurant was also of a high standard. Only a couple of gripes: free wireless internet in the rooms is essential and was not available during our stay and I highly recommend you purchase some wool and cotton blankets for those people who cannot sleep under doonas. Synthetic blankets are not a good substitute. Finally the room service caesar sald was missing quite a few ingredients. On noting this they did make it better immediately. Definitely an excellent hotel to stay at whilst in Hobart.

Room Tip: ask for a view of the harbour on a high floor

Situated in a brilliant location overlooking the Sea & Harbour this hotel sparkled from start to finish. Our Room was on the 19th floor (ideally aim for either the 19/20 floors) & was in a prime position. When the weather turned nasty it was great to "people watch" from our vantage point.
Rooms are spacious & furnishings throughout are of a high standard.
There are many casual sitting areas both on floors & in the lobby area.
Nothings perfect though:-
-Concierge service advertised but difficult to track down-does it exist?
-Restaurant Manager was on the pompous side-we arrived for Dinner (no reservation) but there were any number of vacant tables at the time. Manager then goes through what seems a painful contemplation of whether he could fit us in before acceding to our request. A full bus load of diners could have been seated during the time we were eating as the Restaurant was only 20% full throughout. Food is on the pompous side too-not great value for money.
-Room did not have a safe for storage of valuables.
-No bottled water provided
-At the time of our visit Wi-Fi was not available in rooms.

Staff were very cooperative & helpful-overall stay enjoyable despite the irritations mentioned above

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of 19th/20th Floors are rewarded with great views.

I travel on business quite often and I will probably stay at the Grand Chancellor - Hobart again. The rooms were modern and comfortable. My favorite feature was the rainwater shower, on the ceiling instead of a regular wall shower tap. Only 2 complaints was paper thin towels and the AC couldn't keep up with my request for 21C. Suggestions: Need to invest in spa quality towels to get a very good (4/5) rating from me. Breakfast in the am was $21 for continental or $28 for full breakfast. It was an average breakfast buffet, nothing spectacular. I don't know what the prices are for the average person, so I can't give an honest comment on "value" since I'm not technically paying for it.

We stayed with the Grand Chancellor Hobart for our Valentine's Day. The moment we walked into our room we were mesmerised by the stunning view over Constitution Dock. We walked the short walk around the front of the dock to Salamanca Square and had a gorgeous meal at Barcelona. The sights, sounds and smells of a working dock, complete with tall ships and canvas sails - with old sandstone buildings as a backdrop, is such an experience. You feel like you are in Europe. The Tasmanians are very proud of their local produce and gourmet cuisine. We did a floatplane flight with Tasmanian Air Adventures out to Bruny Island and up to MONA (Museum of Old & New Art), as our Valentine's Day treat. It was amazing - seeing salmon jumping feet out of the water and our landing was so soft on the silky water! We will be back for a flight to Wineglass Bay next trip. Our breakfast in our hotel room, looking out over the dock again was magnificent! All hotel staff were so friendly too. There are more upmarket hotels now in Hobart - but none can give you the view of this hotel. We came back to our room after dinner, and drank a bottle of champagne looking out over that stunning view - that no wine bar in town could match.

Room Tip: It really is worth the money for a Harbourside room

Well situated hotel for visiting Hobart for the weekend. Short walk to Salamanca Markets, the departure point for transport to Mona and some nice restaurants. Room spacious and bed comfortable. We stayed in a mountain view room on the 7th floor, and there was a lot of noise from the street below, especially when ambulances had their sirens going (the hospital is 2 blocks away). I think a harbour view room would have been quieter as the street at the front of the hotel didn't seem so busy.
