Excellent hotel the staff were excellent and the rooms modern and roomy. But overall the view was the greatest part.

Have stayed here three times now, each time have been impressed by the size of the rooms, the large views and the superb views from both front and back. The suites with harbour view are superb, however the mountain view is also lovely and you get your fix of harbour view on the way to the lift anyway. The fittings are a little old style but the rooms are very well designed and extremely comfortable. Not as hip as Henry Jones (where we stayed also) but much better value for money

If you stay at this hotel, suggest booking a view room as the outlook over the harbour is really nice. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and we were given a room before the normal check-in time. The foyer is very comfortable, and the rooms that we had was well maintained. The swimming pool was in a large heated space and that was a treat.

Room Tip: Choose a view over the harbour

The Grand Chancellor is easy to access from the airport and gives you the opportunity to explore the downtown area, constitution dock (and it's great eateries), Salamanca markets and battery point all by foot with ease.
The hotel has just had upgrades to rooms completed so they are of a great quality. the quality of food throughout the hotel is generally of a good standard, it should be noted that regardless of the number of customers in the bar it shuts early every night, leaving you with the unenviable task of cabbing it to the casino.
General service in the hotel was fine however myself and colleges all experienced a frustratingly slow check in and check out process, not because of large numbers but just the antiquated way they do it. There was also some hit a miss between the different check out staff around how things were charged which had to be sorted out by a manager for each and every guest. Just a very frustrating finish to an otherwise great stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the dock give you picture perfect views

My wife and I stayed three nights at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart. We were there on business and this was our second time staying in this hotel. In fact, I think that we had the exact same room as before. The rooms are large, comfortable and nicely appointed and the hotel is very modern. It is right on the harbor and an easy walk to nearly everywhere. There is an excellent restaurant in the hotel and many other excellent dining choices in the immediate area. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Hobart and will stay there again when we return.

Also recommended: take a tour up Mount Wellington. It is easy and a short tour, but the views are outstanding and well worth the time.

Hotel close to waterfront. 15 minute walk to city centre. Friendly front counter staff. Fixed a problem re booking without a problem and bags conveyed to room without fuss. Upgraded to refurbished mountain view room. Room reasonably spacious and very clean. No room safe but otherwise well equipped.

Hotel grand chancellor was a wot if mystery deal we arrived at 10am not expecting to get our room untill 1 pm we were given a free upgrade to a suprior room which was fantastic despite arriving 3 hours early our room was ready Which was fantastic the only thing that would have been better was a river view room but hey for $140 for 3 people i am not complaning air con kept the room nice and warm the bath was nice and the 2 double beds were very comfortable and a nice suprise most other hotels would eathier have a rollaway or sofa bed staff were very knowlagable and very helpfull and very pleasant

We decided to eat at the restarunt and while the food was excellent not being able to have mint peas on one of our diners main courses is unacceptable mint peas were on the lamb dish so why could our diner not get them on his dish one of our diners also wanted diane sauce on his steak but again he could not get it

I would definatly stay there again but would not reccomend or go to the restarunt
