Owner description: The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is Australia's second-oldest established in 1818. These gardens are home to the largest collection of mature conifers in the Southern Hemisphere and it also has the only subantarctic plant house in the world. A great restaurant and cafe is available onsite and it is a wonderful place to visit all year round. Visit our website for more information.

The brightest tulips and a great fun festival. Also at New Norfolk. The restaurant is a bit expensive but the rest is free!! Go to the hothouse and wet fernery too.

Excellent facility with well constructed variety of gardens.
Chinese Garden/Japanaese Garden/Cactus area/Orchid House all of the highest quality.
Plenty of open space with modern sculptures to interest visitors.

A cool location with some interesting displays, the botanic gardens offer a place to retreat to when you are tired of paying admission fees. We saw families relaxing on shady lawns and found that even during the height of summer, many plants were at their best.

Needs to differentiate and match the garden visit experience more closely. A missed opportunity to dine in a garden environment with foods that might have been grown there. It doesn't need to be upmarket - just healthy and imaginative.

The lily pond, conservatory and Japanese gardens are the must-sees. Service in the kiosk a bit slow.
