I normally do not write reviews but this hotel deserves a good one. When we first saw the outside I was a little disappointed. Once inside everything changed. The staff was courteous and helpful. The rooms are the real jewels. Big and roomy with everything in like new condition. The linens towels were high quality and to top it off the mini bar was very reasonable. This is not The Fairmont or other 5 star hotel but still very nice. One downside is that the restaurant and tourist districts are about a 5 to 10 minute walk away. If you have mobility problems this could be a problem.

The outside of the hotel looks a little shabby - needs an update. The lobby is alittle tired and also in need of revamp but the rooms are great. They have obviously been updated recently. The bed was super comfortable.
The location was a little inconvenient - it was a long walk to North Hobart for dinner. But about a 10 minute walk to Salamanca market and the harbour.
There is not much going on around this hotel at night. I would recommend this hotel as a parcticl place to stay but not as a luxury weekend away.

I have just spent 7 nights at this hotel and you can't go past it for value for money. As mentioned by many other reviewers, the location is great and the free parking is an added bonus. It's location means it is very easy to get in and out of the city for day trips. The meals while nothing to rave about are good value and the option of soup and salad for $12-80 is great after an exhausting day of sight seeing when you don't want to go to bed on a full stomach. I didn't have a issue with a slippery shower. I stayed here with my elderly mother who needs a walking stick to get around and she found the shower safe and roomy. We bunked in together because there were no twins rooms available when I booked and the beds are that big and comfy we would have to SMS each other to have a chat. The staff here a extremely helpful and friendly. Some have suggested noise is an issue, however I am a very light sleeper (hence this review at 4-30am) and had the best sleep every night. I would definitely use this hotel again.

What an absolute hidden gem. Do not be fooled by the outside of this hotel. Inside is a fabulous home way from home. Big, comfortable rooms, great beds and pillows, big screen TV all add up for a fabulous stay at the Fountainside.

We also stayed in for dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Great food at VERY reasonable prices. The mini bar prices are also very reasonable and equivalent to prices you would pay in the bottle shops and supermarkets.

This was a great way to end our Tassie tour.

Coming from the airport you drive right into this Motel, which from the outside looks a little bad in the midst of all the streets, but - surprise - the CBD and the restaurants are reachable within 10 minutes by foot. Service is good, breakfast ok, minibar VERY reasonably priced ( a surprise), Internet VERY resonablay priced, carpark free. We were very pleased to have found this place.
