This hotel lived up to it's reputation. The staff were all exceptionally friendly without the big plastic smiles you get in most places but genuinely down to earth, helpful and welcoming.
The room (2nd floor) was a decent size, comfortable and clean. We had no problem with noise from the road outside. Unfortunately didn't get to try breakfast or the restaurant; this must be the only place I have ever been where the mini bar prices are the same as in shops. I highly recommend staying here

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel, I read all the reviews as I had never been to Hobart and they were right. It was an easy trip from the airport on the airport bus as we were the first stop, from the outside it does not look like much, not a big fancy foyer however the staff are friendly and welcoming, the room spacious and the bathroom was very modern, and stocked with great shampoo, conditioner and soap. The mini bar was very affordably, everything in there was shop prices, I never go near the mini bar as it is always so expensive.....but this one is great. The location is right near the city with an easy walk to the harbour, cafe's and sight seeing. I went down to the local bus office ( which is in the middle of town) to get a timetable so i could get out and about on a budget, the were so helpful and armed me with lots of timetables. I would definitley recommend this hotel to those travelling to Hobart.

When I first looked at this hotel I thought it didn't look very special from outside. It did put me off a liitle as I felt it was very basic and uninteresting looking. How wrong an impression that was. Even reception did not prepare us for the lovely surprise we had when we entered our room. It was excellent. Really good accommodation. Furnished very, very well. It was bright and fresh and spotless. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. The towels in the bathroom were whiter than white and very soft. For the rate we'd paid I'd not expected such an exceptional room. We had originally booked a more expensive room on the top floor which was described as luxury but I messed up our booking and arrived on the wrong date so this was not available. However, I can truly say that I can't believe it would have been better than the one we had on the second floor, apart from the view. The staff were so very helpful and sympathetic and fortunately for us they had just one room left. The breakfast was good and the whole experience at this hotel was brilliant. There was plenty of parking space too. If looks can be deceptive then this hotel proves it to be true. The hotel location was really very good and it was a plus to be able to walk to so many good restaurants in the harbour. It was ideal for visiting so many places. Full marks for everything and thanks for making our stay so pleasant and for all the help .

Room Tip: If all the rooms are the same as the one we experienced then no worries.

Three night stay during the very busy Hobart Regatta weekend. Booked s/c apartment for 2 people. Comfy room was excellent. The biggest plus was the restaurant. Ate breakfast 3 morning but dinner only once. Dinner was great with $4 spirits. Main meal with soup and salad bar $23 - great value. Very easy walk to all of Hobarts attractions. All staff pleasant and helpful.Highly recommend staying here to anyone.

We stayed here for the 1st 2nites & last nite of our week long Tassie road trip. Was greeted both times by wonderful reception staff named Megan & Alisha, they were both full of friendly info. The room was comfy with no faults. U can walk down to many nice bars, cafes etc. This hotel is clean & we would recommend it & we stayed on the 7th floor. Enjoyed port Arthur & Salamanca cafes & bars.

From the other reviews, we thought we were in for a treat with this hotel. Well, if you like resting in the middle of the intersection of a highway and roundabout, perhaps Fountainside is for you. The only view is of roaring traffic. What a sterile, noisy environment. The overworked staff found us an alternative place to stay after a couple of hours delay. The venue is clean but a long walk from most of tourist interest. Avoid this one!
