“Was one of the best stays during my travel to Tasmania”

Pros:
1. Central convenient locations, close to shops, botanical gardens
2. Prices were good -$ 11.80 for breakfast $23.80 for dinner including salad and soup for guests.
3. The best mini bar prices I have ever seen.
4. Very friendly, approachable, attentive and welcoming staff. Note: we arrived on Christmas Day and it was almost like being at home.
5. The rooms have many cable channels including two free movie channels.
6. The rooms are well appointed. They include a comfortable king size bed, aircon, modernised bathroom.
7. Free parking for hotel guests.
8. Free Internet (wasn't free on check-in)
9. It lived upto it's 4 star rating

Cons:
1. Bathrooms don't have a full length protective glass barrier in order to stop water seeping onto bathroom floor.
2. Internet connectivity to iPad and iPhone was a problem in the beginning. Receptionist helped to connect iPad to the hotspot. This experience for the customers can be improved.
3. Very minor and less important - elevator is old fashioned

Overall I liked staying at this hotel, will come back in future and will definitely recommend to friends and others

We stayed here for three nights. I believe this hotel to be an honest four-star hotel, with clean and tidy rooms. The service is correct and efficient. Location is good, but you do get some noise from the roundabout below. My only criticism is in regards to the lack of ambition of the hotel management: there so much potential in this place, which could turn into an excellent option if they made some bold move in terms of its style. It's outdated, despite being contemporary. If they invested just a little more on it, this would be a five star.

Room Tip: See if you can get a room on a top floor to minimize the noise issue.

I recently stayed at this hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was a great size and extremely clean. The bathroom was spotless. The minibar was well priced. Nice tv and the internet access was good and cheap. The hotel was only 10 minute walk from the wharf district and about 20 minutes at maximum from Salamanca. The room was airconditioned and the bed was very comfortable. I stayed on the 2nd level and didn't find it too noisy being on the roundabout. The traffic there at night was not high. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper you may want to stay higher up in the hotel due to traffic noise outside.

Highly recommend this hotel. Very friendly check in staff. The room was great with a large flat screen tv and a reasonably priced mini bar soft drinks were a $1.50 and Mars bars $2.50 so same price as in a shop. The hotels location was also great. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

We found The Fountainside Hotel to be great value. Good size room, recently renovated bathroom, air-conditioned, good block out drapes, large TV, iron & hairdryer. Free parking for the hire car was appreciated. Easy walking distance to the piers, Sat market and shopping areas. Lots of places to eat nearby and local supermarket for essentials. Liked the availability of free tea and coffee along with newspapers, magazines and internet access in lobby.
Found the third floor room a little noisy from the large round-a-bout under our window the first night but not a problem for the rest of our stay. Got a good room rate via their website so do compare if you are planning to stay for more than a couple of nights.
Very friendly staff.
Car hire places nearby as well. In hindsight we did so much walking over the first couple of days on arrival we should have just caught a shuttle bus in from the airport and hired a car later.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor if traffic noise a problem

Yeah it's not fancy schmancy but it offers excellent service from the staff, free parking, mini-bar that is actually reasonable (what you'd expect to pay in a shop) and a REALLY comfy bed. Just bring ear plugs (they will also supply them for you for free) as its located next to a big roundabout. Totally worth it and you can spend the money you save at the Saturday markets. :)

Just wanting to spend one night in Hobart we booked this property. The rooms are fine, clean, good view, breakfast good. Parking is available in the Hotel courtyard but check the position relative to the road and stay in the left lane when going round the roundabout and through the lights, We overshot but eventually got back to the hotel.
A comfortable Hotel at a reasonable rate
