Stayed at this hotel early March and choose based on trip advisor reviews, price and location. Nice, clean hotel with everything I needed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Had a very good night's sleep - bed was very comfortable! Rooms were fairly modern don't let the slightly dated reeption area and slow lift fool you. Never usually bother with snacks provided in room for purchase as they are usually too expensive but at this hotel they were priced at supermarket prices. I would just like to highlight to other travellers that this hotel is a couple of blocks away from the main area in Hobart city so if you don't want to be walking much, I would look for something a bit closer. Also I would not recommend the restaurant at the hotel. It was always empty but as there is not much for choice close by I went there the first night of my stay and ordered fish. It was very oily and had no taste. I made sure I ate elsewhere on my other nights.

We booked a 3 night package & were really pleased with the room. As stated previously the free parking & cheap mini bar are great. We made use of the laundry & did find that it takes 3 goes with dryer to get clothes dry, so be prepared with the coins. We didn’t have a problem with noise at all. Overall we found the room to be great value for money & had a very nice stay.

Nice hotel close to most things. Good value for money (even the mini bar). Friendly staff. The room we stayed in had been recently renovated with a 50" tv. Nice.

We just spent 3 nights at Fountainside and were thoroughly impressed with the hotel. My husband and I rated it as the best that we had stayed out over our 2 week touring holiday of Tassie. The room was quite large and very tastefully furnished. We both thought it had just been refurbished but were told that they had about 3 years ago. The bed was king size and very comfortable. The room was quite although it is on a major roundabout leading into Hobart. I didn't find it noisy but you do occassionally hear the odd bit of traffic. The location is ideal and in walking distance to the harbour and shopping mall. Another great attraction is that it does have car parking and it is free. As has been mentioned before on this site the mini bar is very affordable. One downside is that it does not have a toaster in the room which we had found most handy in some of the other hotels that we stayed in. Our stay took in a sat and sun night and we were not disturbed by late night revellors at all. All in all I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay there again when back in Hobart.

Stayed here two nights. Yes it is on the rounderbout and our room did look over it but the traffic did not disturb us. Big advantage of this hotel is its free parking and walking distance to the harbour.Room was a good size tea coffee making facilities good size bathroom. Resturant was excellent food not only good but the price is sensible we ate breakfast and had a meal in the evening. Wifi is payable but again sensible.
Reception staff really helpful we needed directions to a suburb south of Hobart the lady morning receptionist was so helpful, so we did'nt get lost.

Nice front desk
Easy to walk to tourist part of town
Did not eat there but prices were good
Room was large, clean and comfortable
Good amenities and towels
Nice view.
Good free coffee amenities
Prices of mini bar excellent
Good internet and phone prices. Our lap top could not connect in the room, but we used the computer in the lobby.
Salamanca market was not that interesting, same Chinese and Indian junk at inflated prices, a few local craftsmen in wood and one good pewter seller. A few food stalls mostly honey and marmalade one had bread and another a few cheeses. Not enough to make a picnic out of it, not that the weather would have permitted it either. It rain the entire time we were there. Fishy Frenzy a choice on our book and recommended by museum staff was terribly disappointing. The coffee place in the middle of the walking tour was super yummy. Had a good pasta dish at the Italian restaurant at the end of Salamanca square as you go up the hill, La Porchetta? I think it is a chain.

I normally do not write reviews but this hotel deserves a good one. When we first saw the outside I was a little disappointed. Once inside everything changed. The staff was courteous and helpful. The rooms are the real jewels. Big and roomy with everything in like new condition. The linens towels were high quality and to top it off the mini bar was very reasonable. This is not The Fairmont or other 5 star hotel but still very nice. One downside is that the restaurant and tourist districts are about a 5 to 10 minute walk away. If you have mobility problems this could be a problem.
