I was staying here for a conference and assumed I would have a tower room, as many of my colleagues did - no such luck! I was on the bottom floor of the Mountainside annex. The ceilings are very low, and it did feel dungeon-like after my previous accommodation in a heritage pub with high ceilings and water views, which cost only $15 dollars more (and included breakfast and broadband). While the room included the usual conveniences and was reasonably comfortable, there was NO internet access, you had to pay by the hour for wireless access over in the main hotel. Wrest Point in general is really like staying in a big RSL club that has not been updated. This provides an interesting retro feel (eg the rooms have baths, unheard of in budget rooms these days!), but the lack of mod cons such as internet is a killer when there on business. It's also a long hike (or $10 taxi fare) to the centre of town for restaurants, ferry etc.
