“Enjoyable stay”
Reviewed March 18, 2014 via mobile

Stayed here for two nights last weekend. We booked a Riverside room and were looking forward to staying there. We arrived early at 10.30am but were grateful to hear our room was ready and could go straight in. We made the long trip to the room only to find the door open and someone using the toilet. We made our way back to reception and were immediately given an upgrade to a room on the 12th floor with a spectacular view of the river. A very nice room indeed and greatly appreciated.
We used a few of the barsand restaurant's inside the complex and were generally happy. The food in the Riverside restaurant was superb however the menu in the Onyx bar needs to be reprinted so as not to be confusing. We ordered a pork belly dish only to be surprised when a pork pizza arrived. Pizza was ok just a surprise.
Overall the staff were very friendly and more than helpful.
My only real complaint was not being able to take my wife on her birthday to the high tea that is served friday afternoons in the top floor restaurant. We saw the posters in the lift and tried to book friday morning. Upon trying to book it we were told it needed to be booked by Thursday at the latest. You really need this information on the posters in the lift.
But overall a great time and a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Thank you

Checked in 2/3/14 and was allocated Room 904, which offered spectacular views of the Derwent and beyond. A magnificent panorama stretching from the Tasman Bridge in the north to the horizon in the South. When the sun sets the city lights give a different yet still beautiful perspective as the river seems to sparkle.

All tastes are catered for whether you decide on cheap eats in the Coffee shop, good value in the Loft or Buffet or fine dining in Pier One or the revolving restaurant on the top floor offering French inspired A La Carte.

Read some bad reports about the breakfast buffet, but management has obviously addressed these problems as the freshness and variety of food is excellent! Yoghurts, (with fresh cherries available) Bircher muesli, eggs benedict, fruits and pastries all fresh and tasty. Bacon, eggs, tomatos, baked beans all plentiful if required.

If you don't want to eat at the casino, then Battery Point is only a 10 minute stroll away, where plenty of shops and restaurants await.

The gym has a great array of equipment with a pool, spa and sauna adjacent. The showerheads here have some real grunt which is excellent after a workout.

The staff are all friendly and seem genuinely happy to help where possible.

We travelled around every day, but Wrest Point was a perfect base to start and finish. And the bed was also wonderful, and we slept well.

Our room had been refurbished and offered a nice contrast of 40 year old class with a modern vibe.

We don't check out for a couple of days, but will be truly sorry to leave........

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the river if possible in the casino building.

Hotel could do with a re fresh, it is over 40 years old, and it was nice to stay there, the rooms are good nice beds and bedding, Bar prices are a bit over the top, but then again this is Australia, a very expensive place to visit

Overall a Nice hotel but it is looking a bit worn especially the Arrival area

My husband and I had a recent night off from our 4 kids, and liked the fact that there were bars and restaurants as well as the gaming side, all under one roof. We were somewhat disappointed to find our room was not actually in the casino tower bit, but off to the side, and with a view of a hedge, in front of the car park. ( Mountainside ) But then we went off and had a superb meal at Pier One, followed by a spa! Then breakfast the next day was fabulous! All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. we felt quite special!

What a fantastic treat from one of your children! Thanks for sharing your feedback regarding the great service and food in Pier One and I was glad to hear you had time to enjoy the spa. Wrest Point really does have much to do with our 5 restaurants and 4 bars in addition to the fitness centre, pool, tennis, gaming etc etc. We look forward to welcoming you back soon, hopefully to a Tower room this time! The hotel was built around 1974 but has been revamped over the years. We spent one night here on a weekend.

Our room 607 had a view of the southern end of the harbour and we could barely see the end of the Tasman Bridge. It's a disappointment to ask for a "harbour view" and get the boring end of the harbour with none of the iconic sights within view.

The room had a queen and one single bed. Quite comfortable. Well stocked mini bar and fridge.

We had dinner at one of the restaurants and breakfast at the Coffee Shop. The full breakfast didn't have many cooked options, so could be disappointing. The continental choices were good.

We tried the slot machines and made a $40 profit, which mostly paid for our dinner.

Room Tip: You pay extra to get a harbour view, but make sure you ask during registration to have a view of the...

Thanks for the feedback about your various experiences at Wrest Point. The Harbour view rooms do have a varied outlook which is one of the features of being a round building, we would certainly accomodate an specific requests so please don't be afraid to ask on your next stay. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the comfortable bedding and the mini bar, thanks for your comments about bereakfast also. Well done on your win and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon. The first room we were shown to was a bit tired and looked out over a concrete roof so we talked to reception and we moved immediately to the fifth floor with a great view to the mountain and also over the bay. We stayed in the Tower and our room for two nights was recently refurbished with all new fittings and fixtures. If you want to be close to all of the activities within Hobart City it is not walking distance but only a short cab ride. We enjoyed a meal in the revolving restaurant and the food was superb along with spectacular views. It has swimming pool indoors and outdoor tennis.

Room Tip: Higher floors have the better views and the mountain view is fine as long as you are not on the lowe...

It was great to hear we were able to look after your specific room request and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the mountain views, they are particularly spectacular in winter when it is covered in snow. I've passed your comments regarding the Revolving Restaurant on to the team upstairs who were thrilled - thanks for letting us know what a great expereince you had.
