Description: Jam Jar Lounge opened in 2009, quickly establishing itself as a unique cafe/wine bar perfectly suited in historical Battery Point. Jam Jar was recently selected as one of the Top 10 Cafes in Hobart for 2014 (Tasmanian Food Guide Editor's Choice). In addition to operating as a cafe by day reviving the iconic Aussie "Jaffle" on it's breakfast menu, it also offers authentic Japanese "Ramen" noodles and a range of healthy "Bento Boxes" for lunch. Jam Jar has built a fantastic reputation for it's legendary Friday nights serving Japanese Tapas (small plates) in a wonderful 1920's jazz themed atmosphere. In response to the overwhelming popularity of Friday nights, Jam Jar is now open on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Our wine list always includes several Tasmanian wines which we change regularly. Jam Jar offers several relaxed areas to enjoy your experience including a sunny "dog friendly" courtyard, quiet library with wood fire, or front communal table for larger groups. For those who insist on privacy we invite you to book our back "shed" with seating from 6-8 people. Free Wi-Fi is available during business hours.

Enjoyed a delicious breakfast here - sitting in the comfy old chairs, reading the papers, sipping our delicious coffee and consuming our sensational scrambled eggs.

a spur of the moment decision to eat out mid Saturday morning led us to the eclectic little venue of Jam Jar. The range of food was pretty standard but nicely prepared and good size serves. Our eggs benedict were soft on the inside, there was plenty of smoked salmon and asking for the holandaise on the side meant the dish wasn't drowned. Best of all was the coffee - good temperature (not luke warm) and well made.
A great place to sit back, read the paper and watch the passing parade.

Nothing is better than some toasty French toast and a hot coffee on a wet Sunday morning. Especially when you are greeted by friendly staff and comfy couches.

The food was very nice, but it was too slow, and then when it appeared my wife's meal was missing the ordered bacon, to which the waiter who had also taken the order, instead of apologizing, told us we didn't order the bacon. I explained that we did and he told us he'd get some bacon, but it may take some time. Still no apology. No bacon turned up. Wife had mine. That would have been ok, if the big breakfast had been big, but it wasn't. More than $50 for breakfast - slow and rude. Food was good though, and nice enough place. Glad I don't live in Battery Point.

The coffee was very well made, and the brunch we had was spot on. Loved the quirkiness like the board games, the art deco table lamps and the playing card table numbers. Really reminicent of all the cool Melbourne cafe's we're used to, and worth a bit of an up-hill walk from the Salamanca markets
