We dined here for brunch on Saturday 10 November.
We arrived close to 12 pm. Unfortunately right from the get go we were disappointed. We have had other reasonabe meals here we we do not expect anything flash, but the last few times have been disappointing.
None of the tables were cleaned, with crumbs and mess from other diners left all over. The staff seemed very uninterested in any customers but more interested in talking with one another.
The waitress took a long time to come and take our order, even though at the time there was only one other couple in the restaurant. She was unpacking the dishwasher whilst talking to other stuff but I would have thought taking orders would have been more important.
My milkshake was served in a glass that was hot! It had obviously just come out of the dishwasher and made the milkshake rather upleasant.
My husband liked his coffee and was great.
Our brunch took a long time to come out, over 35 minutes. Even though we were waiting this long no one came to see if we would like another coffee or some water or anything.
My meal was disappointing. The eggs had obviously been spooned straight out onto the muffins, which were left very soggy from the water. Unlike other times the hollondaise sauce was disappointing, not creamy at all.
The Village Cafe used to be a favourite of ours as it is close to where we live, welcoming and rather inexpensive when compared to Salamanca so I am hoping they are going through a rough spell. We keep going back hoping it would be like it was before but unfortunately we have just had a few too many bad experiences in a row.
