“Historic Penitentiary Chapel”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

On a recent visit to Hobart someone told us about this Penitentiary Chapel , it doesn't seem to be promoted as much as some other places but we did get a flyer from the Tourism office and the location is also on the local map that is easily obtainable. It is really worth a visit, the tour guide was excellent.. the tour really gave us a good insight into the lives of the convicts, also the history of the chapel. We did this tour after our visit to Port Arthur and the two are quite unalike but yet tie in together. It was a minimal cost of $7 to $10 entry fee and worth every cent.

“A must C”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Just back from a 10 day trip to Tassie with 3 days spent in Hobart. Saw a lot but a definite highlight was our tour of the Pen Chapel - a fascinating journey back in time to our convict/colonial origins. Our guide was passionate and knowledgable and really helped to bring it all to life. If only my history teacher at high school had been half that good... : ) You won't be disappointed!

A historic and not so well know site, well worth visiting. Our guide was so informative and spent as much time with us as we wanted to get the full story. Recommended to anyone interested in our convict past.
